Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway Autumn Showcase Weekend 26/10/2024

Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
In this video we return to The Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway for their annual Autumn Showcase weekend featuring their home fleet.
Our trip to The Cotswalds was under threat a few weeks prior to the visit caz of some Cross Country crews who are members of the RMT Union would strike every Saturday during October which clashed with the Saturday of our visit to the railway.
Thankfully though the strike action was called off & our trip to The Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway went on ahead as scheduled.
We focus in this video the steam operations during the Saturday of the showcase in which 4 were in operations 3 from The Great Western Railway & 1 from The Southern Railway.
The main attractions were The Dinmore Manor Loco Group LTD's 2 locos as their flagship loco 7820 Dinmore Manor was baying farewell before she is withdrawn from service in January 2025 following the expiry of her 10 year boiler ticket before commencing her 10 year overhaul.
The other attraction was newly returned to traffic 3850 following completion of her overhaul restored in GWR wartime Black livery which she was making her gala debut.
Also in action was also newly returned to traffic earlier in 2024 of The 2807 Group's 2807 which prior to the gala was repainted in GWR wartime black livery showing a scene which had not been seen for a very long time.
The final steam loco we see in this video is the largest loco to work on the railway The 35006 Group's rebuilt Merchant Navy bulleid pacific 35006 Peninsular & Oriental which was the only non GWR steam loco to run during the weekend.
Mostly for our visit was a bashing day as we wanted to get our final bashing mileage behind 7820 Dinmore Manor before she is withdrawn & it was a great send off running non-stop from Broadway to Cheltenham Racecourse.
There will be a special tribute video to 7820 Dinmore Manor in the future so watch this space.
Before finishing the day was a sunset bash behind the bulleid pacific & also for the 1st time getting the bulleid facing south as the last time we traveled behind 35006 he was facing to the north in 2016 & this was 2 years before the Broadway extension opened.
