Glove box door won't shut - Broken glove box latch - 2008 Buick LaCrosse - FIXED - Easy

In this video I show you how I remove and replace a glove box latch on a 2008 Buick LaCrosse. It's a pretty straightforward job, but removing the lock cylinder is a little tricky.

This video describes the process as being VERY easy! I was surprised to find out that everything worked perfectly as shown in the video. The one hitch I encountered was my own fault. I discovered that I didn't have a decent screwdriver that would fit into the screws holding the lock in the glove box. I dug around in the old tool box and found my little ratcheting screwdriver that I bought 40 years ago. It worked perfectly! Thanks for the video!

Easy fix. Buick does make a gray interior, at least it is in my ‘06. I got my part from Rock Auto (not an endorsement, that’s just where I found it) and it was also tan. A further search showed that gray is available with a different part number. Search for that showed possible availability at major auto parts chains, but had to call for availability.

Nice job. I ordered one in Tan, it came in Gray. I used it anyway. $10 online. I used a Sheetrock screw to press the tab. So easy a caveman can do it.😮

got a part from a junkyard for cheap. After I got it home I saw the latch was broke. Couldn't use it. Got another one online and it worked just fine.

This happened to me. Gm has been making glove boxes for 100 years. Opened on to my wife’s knees while driving. What else is gm cutting corners on? GM probably saved less than $.01 on this design. Lost a customer and his family on this one.

I had same plastic notch break off the handle making the assembly. I pulled part from junkyard. Now I am realizing I do not have the donor car's key to unlock the replacement's cylinder to pull out and transfer my own Buick's cylinder. I guess I can drill out the junk cylinder I won't be using. And hope the gray handle doesn't get damaged
