I’ll have my first dive this weekend where I’ll need gloves with my drysuit. I’m a bit apprehensive about how things will go with wet gloves, and I had been thinking about dry gloves as an option going forward as well since some of the guys I dive with say they have better dexterity with the dry gloves. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

In cold a quarry, dry gloves can’t be beat but I use both
@UKDiver3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, always colder at inland sites over winter. That’s where my drys get used most 👍

This is a really useful, practical and straight-up video - thank you. Great to cut through the fluff! I shall be taking multiple pairs of the under-gloves as I had not at all considered that you'd be wanting to keep them on after the dive to dismantle your gear; a great point. When you switch to and from wet and dry gloves, do you not then need to remove the cuff-side section too? If you do, how much of a faff is that? And does the underlying latex/neoprene of the suit's original cuff get damaged in the process?
@UKDiver Жыл бұрын
Hey 👋. With the system I’ve got nothing comes off the suit when I use wet gloves as the cuff side is built into the suit rather than being one of those adapter kits that go over the suit, if that makes sense?! I just put the wet glove over the inner silicone seal and jobs a good un 👍

Off topic but would you consider a video covering fins ? I have no clue where to start
@UKDiver3 жыл бұрын
I have a start and a finish for you pal… Apeks RK3’s. Best fins out there. Great quality build, load of useful features (as opposed to gimmicks) and most importantly they do the job they are supposed to and they do it well. I might do a video over winter pal, but take it from me, you ain’t gonna go wrong with a pair of RK’s 👍

Hi Andy , I’m trying to choose a drysuit and wonder if you have a video on your thoughts about choosing one?
@UKDiver3 жыл бұрын
Hey pal. No I haven’t done a video on that and to be fair, I don’t think I could. I’ve only ever used one type and one brand and I would recommend them highly. Where abouts are you in the UK?
@CritterHunter3 жыл бұрын
I hate gloves. And they are banned in most places I go, because it gives people confidence that they can grab corals. Gloves have a place, but not many in the tropics. I feel the same about those dudes that strap a huge knife to their leg and tell everyone on the boat that he will protect them, shall any sharks come by
@UKDiver3 жыл бұрын
You still see the leg knife thing here in the UK, but not as much now. It's getting old skool thankfully. Yeah, when I've done Egypt before, they normally have a no glove policy which I agree with if you don't need them for thermal protection.

@@UKDiver Dinosaur here I have a nice old school big knife absolutely essential kit for 60 year+ BSAC divers. 😉Gloves I all the time as its not easily to grip a dive ladder using wet hands and I did several years fall from a dive ladder because of this.
@UKDiver3 жыл бұрын
@@DubaiDiver hahaha…it’s fair enough Brian if you can reach it. Half of them over here couldn’t reach it geared up if their life depended on it…which it might! You know I’ve never really thought about the grip with gloves. I’d rather not do ladders…I find the lifts far more convenient and faster getting a large group out of the water. I might have to do a grip test video now!

3mm fourth element gloves all year round for me. I think because these gloves are a tight fit they don't allow much water to flush. I dive mostly Scottish sea lochs. I'd like to try a pair of dry gloves though
@UKDiver3 жыл бұрын
@@hectyre you should deffo give them a whirl if you’ve got a suit that will accommodate them for sure 👍
