What the devil am I doing binge watching HVAC videos? This guy is strangely addicting. Don't know why. Very explanatory in what he does. He makes you interested in his work. I couldn't physically do his job. And the span of his knowledge is something to be admired.

Ted, people tend to helicopter because you have such a soothing and kind voice, and you're interesting. I'd hang around to talk to you if you came to my house. Now if Steve Lav came to my house on a service call, I'd leave the door open and tell him to lock up when he was done!

Hello Ted, your the best! When customers love to talk I just stop working and listen. Then they ask me why I stopped, I tell them safety reasons. I'm working with gas and electricity, evaluating situation and you want to talk. The renters are worst, not their money paying for repairs.

Yeah, my neighbor paid a repair guy $500 to replace the control board in his old 80% Goodman furnace. You should have seen his face when I told him that the furnace probably cost less than $500 when it was new.

Clam shell heat exchanger. I used to carry Goodman igniter on my van. They sure went out quite a bit. Is Goodman low quality, sure but parts are readily available and very easy to work on. Now we know how that insulation got in there.....you can hear the chipmunks when the is video fast forwarding. Hahahahahaha I'd check that vent limiter cap ( brass cap ) on the gas regulator. These have a tendency to clog up. 2 tiny little ports in the brass cap. Use a thermostat wire to clear it. I always remove it and verify no junk down in the vent. Great job Ted

My igniter lasted 23 years in my Goodman furnace but that was in Texas where gas furnaces don’t get a real workout. The Goodman factory igniters are better quality than those universal igniters. Just my opinion from experience.

no point of having cheaper, more available parts that are easier to change if the unit breaks down more.

Those are ceramic high temp. They screw on and tighten just fine. I used them when I was using high temp wire with silicon jacket.
@denrayr
@denrayr 2 жыл бұрын
More often than not, they don't bite, but there's an easy trick to get them to bite. If you're twisting, and it won't bite, pull the nut straight off, leaving the twisted wires alone. Cut about an 1/8" off from the twisted end, and thread the nut back on. It will bite and tighten right up.
@bobgallo3775

Good job, Ted. Keep those wire nuts, they are made for high heat. Stuff in the tubes may have been from insulation if the heat exchanger was replaced. Thanks for posting.

Thinking that the vent motor was turned for venting during install Theodore. May want to cover the original top vent hole to stop what ever is trying to nest in that upper cabinet. Just a suggestion, not judging. You and yours have a healthy, happy and safe holiday season. May the new year bring you health and prosperity. Be well stay safe from a 46 year hvac guy in Canada.👍👍🇨🇦

I'm not a fan of the glow fly (had some call backs). I personally prefer the hot rod.Just an FYI , pay attention to the model number reference card it comes with to make sure of compatibility.👍🛠.
@joep4143
@joep4143 2 жыл бұрын
Model number reference? You can make the hot rod fit anything. You might have to bend a bracket or drill a hole but if its a 120 volt and you have it behind 1st burner, you’re good to go.

Sounds like your van has a pulley bearing going bad. Definitely time to remove belt and spin some pulleys or a thermal image with a cold motor. Working at my friends transmission shop couple years back has engraved that sound into my brain. That and the freaking beeps of a bad smoke alarm in someone's house.

17:14 ceramic wire nuts have no insert but they can take the heat a lot better. Skinny wires I do a twist, then fold in half. Wires needs to be stripped long enough for the fold. Yes, they are a pain to work with. But they won't smell like melted plastic if near heat.
