Glowing Lines on Surf & Bay - TRYING GLOW IN THE DARK FLY FISHING LINE - Striped Bass at Night. I do a lot of night fly fishing so I finally decided to give some glow fishing line a try. I loved it. I tried the glow fly fishing line in the surf and bay and have nothing but good things to say about the glowing line. I was using the Scientific Anglers Frequency in a 9 Weight. I loved the taper it is very aggressive. I did not cut it but will in the future as I prefer a very very aggressive taper at night. Worked great in the surf working a big 3/0 bucktail 360 and 2/0 deceiver flies. Took it in the bay worked the 2/0 deceiver for smaller fish then went to a #1 epoxy minnows after I got tired of the big deceiver being butted around.
It was the first time I used the glow in the dark fly fishing line and it was well worth it. You can see the line great. Makes casting and mending in the dark of night easy. As for the con's there are not many. The dusk transition the glow line may be less visible then regular fly line, however you can see it well enough. It is highly visible in the daylight. Another is the time you take to charge it. It does not take long to charge I did it right in my basket on fly changes and filming so not much time is needed to charge. The longer you shine light on it the longer and brighter the line will glow. And it GLOWS bright! The glow is sometimes hard to see in choppy water so you will need a stronger charge to increase visibility in these conditions. I loved the glow in the dark fly line and it will be a staple for night fishing. Thanks for another video with some great info. I went fly fishing late in the day into the evening, couldn't see where I was casting but really was amazed how much more in tune I was with my rod during casting. Had to concentrate on the feel of the rod loading. The glowing line would definitely be a plus next time I'm out in the dark

Oh yea thats the beauty of the night you are more in tune and everything opens up. I do most of my fishing at night and this was the first 2 times I used the glow line. I loved it and certainly will be a staple just adds another dimension I highly recommend it. thanks for watching and commenting Martin

@@FishYourWay got the glow fly line in, hoping to get a chance to use it before the end of the year. Seems to take a good charge with my UV fly tying light.

@@fmrphoto Got the UV light too much better then white light, have to look away after a 20s charge glowing with a orb! Really super line for night fishing I will have to get 7 wt too in the future, be good for loading the 5,6 at night or use straight with the 7wt setup in fw. Its a keeper!

Hi Jerry, That glow line looks like it really helps you cast in the dark. I'm sure it's worth a minute to charge the line. I know when I cast a lure into the surf at night, I'm just hoping it landed where I wanted it to go. The glow line should give you a good indication where your fly landed. Hey Mickey yea it is well worth it for night from the few times I used it. It is great when mending you can see where its at and of course casting. I dont cast much far at night but you certainly can get and more importantly manage a longer run of line in the pitch dark. Actually the darker out the better! I will be using it regularly. get a purple uv flashlight an it will charge that line up in like 25 sec an last longer as well we use em for glow jigs an other glow items as well an work way better then regular flashlight

@@FishYourWay yea go to amazon an u find a good one on there as long as its got 5 stars its pretty good thats what I did an had flashlight for year with no issue an if u do have issues u can always return an get new one

So much so wish it showed better when moving in the air looks cool but too fast for light sensor on camera to pick up. I think it does I am pretty sure something may grab the tip hopefully not a bluefish!!!! Thanks Tim!

I have, some reason I am not big on them but I have a mag darter that glows but I prefer it not glowing and discharged at night but UV lures do work!!! Thanks CP!
