I just did a big chop and I’m on a natural journey! I’ve been a hairstylist for 20+ years and I’m learning that all of that stuff isn’t for us. Quickweaves, ponytails, braids, press and curls, relaxers and more. I was very good at what I did but one thing I am not good at is managing my natural hair. What a discredit to who I really am. So my journey has begun and I just may be taking my beauty business in a completely natural direction. All glory to the Most High and thanks be to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ ❤️ Thanks for this video! I’m all for the two strand twist! #newsubscriber

Starting a natural hair salon that can actually care for and grow out type for hair will be an amazing achievement. You should really think about it. Plus a lot of people will become your new clients. I want to believe that most type 4 women would like to grow their hair long. They just don't believe it's possible for them. Or they're worried about the amount of work and effort that goes into it. A lot of people would rather leave it to they're hair stylist.

Thank you Gloria💖 this is something I've been thinking about for awhile. I may just take that jump and get my cosmetology license and open my natural hair salon. I truly appreciate comments like this that speaks life into me.

Glory to Jesus. A year later, your comment is confirmation to my journey. I’m also a cosmetologist who never properly cared for my hair. God put me on this journey of not wearing weave and taking care of my skin… embracing what He gave me. I had to be obedient after realizing I needed to take care of myself before I care for anyone else’s. I’m on maternity leave and won’t be doing anyone’s hair or makeup but my own.

It always fascinating to see people wash their natural hair weekly, I guess my hair can’t handle it because when I stretch my washes to one month I see more growth retention.

God truly answers prayers! I was wondering if it was just me or does anyone else's hair not do well with weekly/biweekly washing. I'm going on a month without washing my natural hair and it's "now" past shoulder length. I was trying the weekly route but my hair absolutely wouldn't grow! I think once a month is a win for me.

Wearing my hair in twists is my favorite...I wear my hair in twists so much people tend to ask or even assume my hair is "locd"...I actually went on a loc journey September 2020 and I combed it out last month(April2022), I started my locs with really short hair, like barely a twa and now my hair touches my shoulders...right now I'm wearing my hair in twists,and that's how I intend to rock my hair always. I hate to stress over hair. 😃

I totally agree about learning to properly care & maintain our natural hair for ourselves. I remember a friend telling me she noticed how gentle I was with my hair. She said I knew how to pamper my hair. She always wanted me to take care of her hair. I’ve also noticed that we have put a lot of trust in hair stylist/braiders. Only to find out that some of them lack the knowledge about natural hair care. I’m so grateful that I have two daughters because now I know so much about our hair. Great content. Thanks!

You are gorgeous. Your hair is beautiful and healthy. You're right. SOME hairstylist and most professional braiders don't know or don't care about the health of your hair. If they did, there would not be so many women with traction alopecia and bald edges.

I learned from you to apply oil to my hair first and cover with a plastic cap before shampooing and I noticed afterwards that I had so much less shedding! And that means more length retention! We have the exact same routine. And this is my second big chop and I’ve the same length hair now as I did when I was FOUR YEARS post my first big chop. Deep conditioning weekly was my game changer but I also learnt moisture protein balance now. So I alternate between a moisture deep conditioner and a protein deep conditioner and I, too, deep condition with heat. I really enjoyed your video and wish you all the best on your hair journey.

My cousin did the same thing 10 years ago and her hair looked like yours..thick and juicy. I went natural 20 years before her and she caught up and passed me in length, lol.My hair fine, and easy to break, and too scalpy to wear out if in twists if I'm at work, although I love twists and plain ole plaits without extensions.

Oh my goodness yes! I use shears only for the knots that I do but I literally do my own hair as well. Since I am a young man, I always had a low cut hair style and I decided I wanted to go on this journey to learn more about me and my body. In fact, I don't even show my hair anymore to society. I cover my head either with my bonnet when I do not feel like making an African Head Tie Style that covers my entire hair. I am thankful for the journey and my twists look a mess but I will keep getting better. Its all in time and I believe it is my journey that I owe myself to go on. :)

I finally realized that wearing twist is the best style for my fine High porosity hair because it's not damaging or pulling my hair so yes I definitely rock my twist. Also doing your hair while mad or irritated will definitely damage it. I yanked and pulled on my hair one night when taking down my braids I know I pulled alot of my hair out. I'll never do that again!!!
@GlowupwithPaige

Yes twists are perfect for length retention. And I know what you mean about being irritable. That's why I avoid doing my hair when I'm mentally not there.
