Thank you ever so much for making this video. I've been sat in Antarctica for the week trying to get the money together to call out an engineer. Thanks to you I have heating again. I cannot thank you enough.

life saver! cheers, and you can hold it down instead of seperate presses.

Could you please do a video explaining how to set the thermostat.

I will try and do one when im next working on that particular boiler

@@northwestgascertificates thank you. I run the test step-by-step and I was made up the radiators worked again. Unfortunately they only worked for a couple of hours. Someone has suggested it could be the thermostat that is why I asked. Because I'm back to sitting in the Antarctic again lol.

Yes the service mode on the video is only really for gas engineers to do some tests and take some readings etc. Putting it into high service mode will eventually get to hot and cut out. It also only stays on for a limited time (maybe 15minutes) It proves that the boiler is working though for you and that it is something minor that is causing the boiler to not fire up in normal central heating mode. You can download the instruction manual for that boiler from the internet. You should have a read 👍 if there is a faulty thermostat wired into the boiler, you might want to remove but you will need to put the link wire back in. It will show you this in the manual

Hi. I was wondering if anyone can help. So I have this boiler. I usually set it to 1.2 after a few months lets say 4 5 months it goes down slowly then when it reaches to 1.0 I set it back to 1.2. What pressure do I need to set it to exactly? Also when at 1.2 and the radiator is on when it reaches between 2.4 and 2.9 the whole screen light comes on and radiator symbol flashes. Is this normal?
@northwestgascertificates Жыл бұрын
1.2 is perfect. However, if it is going towards 3 with the heating on, the expansion vessel inside the boiler will need re pressurising. This can be done as part of a service but needs to be done asap as 3 bar and over you risk damaging the boiler or bursting a pipe....i would turn the temperature of your radiators down (this is done on the front of the boiler) for the short term to stop the pressure getting to high until you get it sorted...

@@northwestgascertificates Thank you for your reply. Even when its set on 1.2 and when radiators on whilst pressure is going up and goes to 2.4 and upwords the light comes on and soon as its reached to 2.9 itl stay on but won’t go above that itl stay on 2.9 until whenever I put the hot tap on then light will go off as the pressure is going down. My radiator temp is 60 at front of boiler. So light shouldn’t be coming on if it reaches between 2.4 to 2.9. What number should it be at whilst radiators is running?
@northwestgascertificates Жыл бұрын
If the expansion vessel is fully pressurised and working correctly, the pressure shouldn't really rise much more than 0.5 above the 1.2 so around 1.7/1.8 when hot. Water expands when it gets hot hence the pressure increasing and hence the need for an expansion vessel which absorbs the pressure...

@@northwestgascertificates Thanks for that. When it is on 1.0 the light doesn't come on and pressure doesn't go above 2.4 ish. Is it ok if i keep it at 1.0 or does it have to be on 1.2?

Anywhere between 1 and 1.5 is fine when the radiators are cold...

What is this for? Excuse my ignorance
@northwestgascertificates2 жыл бұрын
Hi. It is only really for gas engineers this one. You need to put it into high and low service modes to do certain tests on the boiler...

@@northwestgascertificates would this reduce the consumption of the gas?
@northwestgascertificates2 жыл бұрын
Hi. No it wouldn't. It is only used for a short time while doing a safety check on the boiler. It can't be left on...

More good info. I wonder if you can keep the + button pressed for a few seconds rather than having to keep clicking it a hundred times.

You possibly could be right. Will try next time 👍

@@northwestgascertificates not a criticism by the way. Just my thoughts . Seems a bit of a daft design otherwise.
