Someone needs to make a quality leg press/hack squat where the plates load underneath (like this one) to save width, but FROM ONE SIDE so it can be placed up against a wall. That would be a huge amount of space saved in a home gym, and for many people it would be the thing that makes one of these machines workable.

That's an interesting idea. I think that would be cool especially if it's reversible so you can install it to load from either side

For me, I think the Fettle Fitness "Pendulum Total Leg Press" (aka pendulum squat) is the best bet. It's footprint is a bit smaller than this machine (79" x 36") and it's a relatively comparable price (works out to $2250 for me, shipping varies) but significantly higher quality from what I can tell. If I had the space, money, and I knew I was never moving, it'd be my go to. Otherwise, the TuffStuff Lying Hack Squat/Leg press (85x33). Made In USA, $2800-3000 new. It's plate-loaded but uses a pulley to make it a 1:1 ratio.

Idk why companies don't ask for feedback on hacksquat equipment and how it's setup. It's like they took the hankies people and thought it would only be used for them. @padraigfoley3107 ай бұрын
I assume making the seat bigger reduces the range of motion or is it even an issue as it looked like it has loads to spare. I am that guy who never squats and prefers leg press. Which type of squat bar is the best to leg press lover, anti squat person?
@tas14247 ай бұрын
I still struggle to understand why these are always at 45 degrees. Maybe someone can enlighten me and I'm missing something obvious. Stability, perhaps, but I can't see that being an issue really and could easily be sorted if it were bolted down or weighed down somehow. I appreciate there probably needs to be some sort of angle for easy access and adjustability, especially for the leg press seat. But if it were, say, 30 degrees, you a) reduce the footprint, and b) reduce the requirement for as much weight (cos, y'know, physics).

All hack/legpress combo units suck in my opinion. Too many compromises with small foot plates, thin seat pads, and limited weight loading. They all have severely limited weight capacities due to only having 2 weight horns instead of 4 weight horns like most 45 degree leg presses. The only way to get by with only two weight horns is with a vertical leg press where the weight requirements are much less due to gravity.
