Hey Joe, I've watched all of your videos and want to thank you for all of the information you have provided. I am getting ready to do an entire floor with Nucore Performance with some tricky angles. In future demonstration videos, it would be helpful to zoom in on details, for example, measuring with the cheater board at doorways. It is hard to see where you make your marks on the planks.

Hi Joe! YOu helped me so much several years ago when I installing floors in our old home - thank you!!! We are now rebuilding after a fire and want to have vinyl planks installed on basement concrete subfloor - I ‘m not DIYing it this time!! I learned from another flooring installer that glue-down may be preferable to click together on a concrete subfloor because it stays put and won’t come apart. But now I hear your concern about the glued planks shrinking and creating gaps. I certainly want to avoid that so maybe I should go with the click together instead? Just a little confused right now.

I really enjoyed your breakdown of glue down versus click lock flooring! I installed glue down hardwood in my living room a few years back, and it was a solid choice. The process was straightforward, and I appreciated the solid feel underfoot. I also had to deal with some moisture issues because I live in a humid area, so I made sure to use a good quality moisture barrier. On the other hand, I recently helped my neighbor install click lock vinyl in her kitchen. It went down much quicker, and we didn’t have to worry about glue drying. However, we did have to ensure the subfloor was perfectly level, which took some extra time. One thing I noticed was the sound difference; the glue down felt more solid while walking on it compared to the click lock, which had a slight hollow sound. I’m curious about your thoughts on maintenance for both types. Thanks for sharing such valuable insights!

Hoping for some advice! I have a water mitigation system, which includes a sump and channels cut into the bottom edges of the walls/the floor so that if any water DID get in the basement it can be guided to the sump pump. How can I put a floor LVP floor down correctly? I was thinking DMX 1 step with LVP on top, but Idk if I should go all the way to the wall or if I should leave a gap over the cut channels! I really am trying to find an answer!

Does glue down eliminate the sensation that you get with click floor that the floor moves even when a kid is walking? Also I have the click floor in my bedroom and when I walk my dresser moves even though my floor beam are sturdy.

Joey, I have watched several of your videos and they are very informative. I have used your tips when laying my own projects and it made for a better and easier installation. Thanks so much for sharing and looking forward to additional videos.

I have always hesitated to install glue down due to having to deal with removing it in the future. Can you do video on that issue?

Need advise. Just had my upstairs done with Adura Max click locking and my entire floor sounds like I'm walking on sand, making a slight crunching or scratching noise. This is on plywood subfloor. I did see the installers put very minimal leveler on the joint edges of the plywood but nothing else and i saw them only sweep the subfloor, not vacuum. They are supposed to return to do the downstairs which is on concrete.

It is very common for the plank to make noises when walking on it for the first month or two. It needs to settle. However, I am not sure that is what it is.

Thanks for the info. This stuff was super expensive and they are obviously not taking as much care and effort as you do. Even though I asked all these questions before hiring them. I think they just lie and say they do stuff when they don't, like all the floor prep.

Needs some advice kitchen has 1/4” step up to tile the living room, kitchen is concrete. Can i use cork underlayment to account for the 1/4” step? Is it squishy?

Some people use dry marker that they use on dry erase chalk boards which rubs off with a dry rag.

question, currently have concrete slab with cheap vinyl planks glued down. Can i just install the optimax performance with cork backing on top of the existing? or does it all have to be removed?

How do you feel about self adhesive vinyl planks on hall landings straight onto floor boards, I don’t have a high budget so looking for something cheaper until I can afford otherwise.

How thick do you recommend for glue down plank so it won't gap?

Hi. Which flooring would you recommend for dogs? We have 7 dogs. 5 very small, 1 medium and 1 large. Full house Subfloor over basement. Dogs can go in and out dog door all day but always have messes in the house. So need something to hold up with messes and water from dog door usage. Thanks

We used glue-down Karndean LPF in our kitchen (didn't want the high labour cost of installing tiles and the hardness of tiles) because we wanted something durable plus we have German Shepherds! After 6 years, the flooring still looks fantastic and our visitors have often thought that the floor is actual hardwood because the wood markings are so natural, plus we bought the style that is beveled along the edges of the strips. The advantage of the glue-down is that all we have to do is to hold a hair-dryer to the damaged strip to soften the glue, remove the strip and replace it (we have extras just in case, but never had to use them - we were worried about scratches). The only caveat is, although the vinyl itself is water-proof, water could slowly percolate between the edges of the planks and down to the plywood subfloor and damage the plywood. So you need to clean up 'messes' asap. But I don't think you would allow 'puddles' to stand anyway! (We have lots of the kitchen dish-drying pads that we place underneath the dog-bowls because GSD's are the messiest drinkers. Water everywhere! 🤐) I'm not Joe, but maybe this might help in your research! Cheers!

@rhusradicans2122 Hi, thanks for the suggestion. What did you use to glue planks to subfloor? Has any planks shrank and caused gaps?
@rhusradicans212218 күн бұрын
@@jackgaskins4170 The manufacturer (Karndean in our case) provides the glue that is compatible with their flooring - which was also available through the flooring retailer that we purchased the vinyl planks from. And no, absolutely no shrinkage - the vinyl strips are just that, just a layer of vinyl - the strips aren't layered upon a solid substrate to create a solid plank. (I realize now that I may have caused some confusion by calling the vinyl strips "planks", so I apologize for that!) To re-cap (so I'm sure I'm clear this time!): our contractor glued the Karndean vinyl strips directly to the plywood subfloor using the compatible Karndean-manufactured glue, all provided through the retailer. The plywood subfloor has to be clean and smooth ('good' side up).

Which Click-Lock is in the back of this video? Looks natural. I have glued down similar looking click-lock (8mm thick) as is in this video. It is glued to the concrete floor with floor heating (both freshly made, concrete floor was very level). Since install 2-3 years ago it looks ok, no movements or hollow spaces beneath. 2K glue was a little expensive, but all went smooth even for first time installer. Your video helped me greatly, as i watched them a lot before starting the install. 2K glue was hard after 30min after mixing, so had to be fast when installing. Thanks for the uploads it was much help. I have installed 90m2 without the seams between the rooms/doors so 2 rooms had to be installed backwards due not wanting to have seams. :D

Is loose lay Floor the same as glue down? If so do you need to glue down every plank or just a strip every 10 ft like other videos say
@HBSuccessАй бұрын
No it’s the opposite. “Loose lay” = floating floor or also perimeter attached sheet vinyl around here. It’s not an industry term… it’s a local term so YMMV.
@shawn4357Ай бұрын
Can you put glue down floor right on top of old vinyl glue down squares without a pad?
@HBSuccessАй бұрын
You can NEVER glue down over “pad” of any kind. You MIGHT get away with gluing down over vinyl tile IF it is very well adhered and in good shape. Otherwise you need to install plywood underlayment over the old floor and then glue down. Don’t tear up vinyl tile until you have it, and the glue tested for asbestos.

@HBSuccess this video says you need to lay down a pad before you put glue down planks

@HBSuccessАй бұрын
Poor quality flooring (I didn’t say inexpensive) and probably not a flat enough subfloor. Repetitive movement up/down shreds the locking system.
