Thank you Joe! Because of your excellent videos and your willingness to share your expertise, I am half way through putting lvp in my entire house with zero transitions. It looks great and it's all thanks to you! The Plank Hammer and Plank Puller are quality tools as well. They have been indispensable. God bless you! By the way, I'm a 63 year old grandma doing this by myself 😃

I want to thank you. I have never laid panels before. thanks to your videos I learned how to lay panels. everything you showed was 100% useful to me. the most cheated board. I managed to place the panels along the entire length of the living room, corridor and entrance, 10 m without cutting off between the doors. all the guests are impressed and it looks great. especially since I took the measurements as you recommended, so everything is symmetrical and simply looks great. what you are doing is great, respect.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the great videos. I’m just finishing up installing new LVT flooring in our cabin and your tips on layout and tools were a game changer. I’m 74 and my install was made much easier. Thanks Much

Most of the time I make a decision of which direction to lay the floors, I don’t worry about the “easiest” way. That doesn’t concern me because every floor can be installed in reverse. What I care about most is what with look most pleasing to the eye. Usually it is the length of the house, or long wide central corridors of the house, that determines that question. Thanks for sharing the video Joel!

Yes every floor can be installed in reverse... but there are some products that are very very hard to install in reverse... If you don't mind taking 3x or 4x the time then go for it! :)

Glad your hacking issue behind you Joe. I've completed my initial project using all your guides from previous videos, but I enjoy your videos regardless. One feature that might be nice for a future video would be on doing underfloor heating, particularly with LVP Plank.

2:32 wait, gonna interrupt for sec. You also need to account for if want transitions or not, before deciding where gonna start running material; as this can factor into “how you run” material as well. Hope makes sense (b/c I run floors w/o doing transitions if possible; and most homeowners think gonna look weird, but in the end they prefer and enjoy no transitions) Also, forgot to add (why edited now), love this channel, and if first timer, or been 25 years doing floors; this channel is a great source for tools (love em, and wish were around WAY SOONER😊), the different kinds of floor materials, locking systems,etc…. Wealth of knowledge w/o spending countless hours on multiple sites, just saying, imo Cheers👍🏻👍🏻

Such great information here, your tutorials all really top notch and very helpful. I’m about to install laminate throughout my house and am definitely feeling overwhelmed. I have a blown and herniated L5-S1 along with 2 groin hernias ( surgery for those coming up next month🤦🏻‍♂️ ) that doesn’t make things any easier lol. I really appreciate your content. I’m basing my layout off my hallway ( like I learned through you ) and with 7 planks I’m just shy of the door jambs, if I move them over half a plank I end up with a 1 inch sliver along the outside wall of 3 rooms. I’m not sure if I should just struggle with the doorways or live with the sliver, if there’s anyway you can weigh in on my situation I would really appreciate it🙏🏻 Thank you for all your help and God bless!

Such great content. I was nervous about doing this size and type of project DIY, but your channel has me getting more excited to get started! Question if I may. The existing flooring I will be removing is a mixture of old hardwood, cheap lvp, and carpet. One concern I have is the hardwood was installed in the kitchen prior to any cabinetry and appliances, so they all sit on top of the hardwood. Same with the laundry room with the cheap lvp being installed before the cabinetry and appliances. With an open design kitchen going into a currently carpeted living room, my goal is to not have any transitions between these rooms after install. Without removing all the cabinetry, would you use a multi-tool to cut along the cabinetry to remove the hardwood and old lvp? Then proceed with the new install and quarter round? I’m still working my way through your content, so if you discuss this in a video on your channel, any reference to that content would be amazing. I will be watching your install for transitions to exterior doors next. Seriously thankful for all the work you put into this channel, your website, and your line of work. Master of your craft for sure. Hope you and your family have a blessed holiday and merry Christmas!

I will be binge watching your videos once I will be ready to install LVP. I will be installing it on concrete slab. Right now my old kitchen island has my dishwasher in prison with my tile floor. Do i need to raise my new 34.5 in.RTA base cabinets for LVP + moisture barrier? I want my dishwasher to have freedom.

Awesome video! I do have a question. In my house, I am using LVP going over ceramic tile. I have an area that has a railing post that I need to go around and it is not removeable. The post that goes into the floor is about a 1" square. What is the best way to do that? Thank you in advance!
@scotts653
@scotts653 4 күн бұрын
@michaelt721 I'm thinking do the math to get the seam at the post, or lay the floor and slot the board and make a 1" backfill piece to fill in the 1" slot.

Say, any advice on what to use on OSB flooring to fill in voids? None of the compounds out there are compatible with OSB. Only products I have found that may work are Ardex feather finish and Henry 549. Both products are expensive.
@MSeroga
@MSeroga Ай бұрын
How big are the voids and how many do you have? Is spray foam an option?
@bubbalo3388
@bubbalo3388 Ай бұрын
The largest one is about 8ft long and about 4 ft wide. Slopes from all sides. Deepest area is around 1/2 inch deep. Hard to explain. Think of it as an elongated bowl. There are other unevenness I had to address also in the same room that also runs into another room. So doing work on the joists is not an option. I am going for just flat and close to level. I don't want to use foam as the main problem areas are where traffic will be and I don't think it will hold up after time. Thanks though.

@@bubbalo3388 ahhh so you need some self leveler… where do you live?
@bubbalo3388
@bubbalo3388 Ай бұрын
@@MSeroga my subfloors are OSB. Nothing is compatible with it. Also my floor has some sloping to it and set leveling will not work anyways because the leveling compound would seek to level out when I would be trying to match the slope.
@MSeroga
@MSeroga Ай бұрын
@@bubbalo3388 If you really really want to make it work... You could always add a layer of plywood on top and then use self level onto that... and if you say your self leveler is flowing down ... well you may need to use enough to make a layer on the whole area to then make it all flat. It all depends on how far you're willing to go, and how much $ and time you're willing to invest into this.

Yes. You can go over it. If the pieces are small no worries. If they are large then fill them with floorpatch or cardboard from yoir plank boxes.

Joe, Thank you for sharing your wisdom and knowledge of your profession. I have learned a lot of what to do and what not to do. I am getting ready to put down 1500 sq ft of Flooret LVP in our newly constructed barndominium on a concrete slab. I am using Quiet Walk for a vapor barrier and cushion. The cabinets have not been installed so its pretty much a clean slate. I have questions regarding laying out and securing temporary anchors down to start the first row. I was thinking about laying out dimensions before installing Quiet Walk, then transferring the lines back on top of it. As for anchors, I was thinking of cutting flaps in the QW to secure anchors to concrete, then taping them closed again after I pull anchors up. Any other suggestion would be appreciated. I searched for your videos for this topic, but didnt find anything. Thanks for your work and appreciate the prayers at the end. Bless ings to you and yours.

Joe question for you.. when installing over a slab do you lay down a 6mm plastic and still a pad underlayment that has the plastic bottom layer or do you only use one or the other? Having 2 vapor layers is not a good thing.
