Hot glue guns are a great match for woodworking, especially now that the big glue companies are developing sticks especially designed for wood construction. You’ll be surprised at just how many different types of glue sticks there are to choose from. Today you can buy glue sticks that differ in bonding strength…flexibility…melting-point temperature…and even color.

My least favorite thing about most glue guns is the power cord. It seems like the cord is forever in the way, or tugging the gun (making it fall over) unless you have a pricier gun or make yourself some kind of base. The cord also makes setting up and putting away the gun a bit of a hassle, too. Well, this ain't the 1990s anymore, and cordless battery-powered tool tech has gotten much more advanced. I'll have to check out the cordless idea...sounds interesting. The model I show here has a stand that you can mount to your bench. This keeps the cord under control. Thanks for the comments!

I also just purchased a cordless one by Ryobi. Handy when you have to go up to high places and don't want a cord getting in the way. Especially on a ladder

Everything has it's compromise. Power cords. +Pos+ they deliver a lot of power that's non-stop. -Neg- they have length limitations, tangles, fray and will electrocute you ;) Cordless. +Pos+ portability. -Neg- Batteries, limited power, extra weight, guaranteed to go bad and need replacement, expensive.

Didn't even mention cordless glue guns (ryobi) but baseboard is my favorite application. I use a lot for returns too on crown and making makeshift jigs.... but baseboard by far is the ultimate hotglue hack

No need to put paper around your tool to make a cap for it... just oil it or grease it, when it's dry you just slip it then wipe your tool. if you lost a cap do the same, the twist it off and there you go!

Hot glue supports to stand a gun that is without a stand. Add weight to your supports if desired. Wow, why didnt I think of that? 😆

Also, hot glue can be used to quieten a dog that won't stop barking. Simply apply the glue to the dogs mouth area and clamp the jaws shut until the glue sets. Alternatively, if the barking is coming from a neighbour's dog which you can't access due to a fence or gate, squirt the glue into one's own ear-holes to block the sound. If you need to sleep during the day but find the sunlight bothersome, a quick dab of glue to each eye-lid will keep the eyes shut, simulating darkness. Alternatively, if you have to work a nightshift but can't keep your eyes open, the glue can be used to stick the eye-lids into an 'open' position, thus allowing you to safely operate machinery, etc.
