people used to ask me about my horse care and I started by telling them that you have to haul in a ton of hay and haul out 2 tons of horse manure every month shoes every 8 weeks vet appointments every six months. they usually walked away pretty quick. It's a big commitment you have to make. I loved it for 51 years of my life and I miss it.

Yes! Exactly why I gave it up. So expensive, so time consuming, so many people who don’t give horses what they need and I was feeling like one of those. (The more education I get, the more I want better for ALL my pets.) Watching CC model so much excellent care info, all the people cheering her on gives me hope for the future…and the self-awareness to know I need to get back to horse care and riding in one way or the other. A move is in my future!

Thank you for a newer look to horseshoeing; as an elder my memory is to now be put away and to view and appreciate a newer time. My memory goes back to when coal fired forges were being replaced by newer gas forging and when making a horseshoe was a skill of its own. You don’t pilot the future with rearview mirrors. As a side note I made my living as a well paid line mechanic and we did our work by solving problems. C.C. would be a top line mechanic.

@@Holly-ce6sj I first learned of the idea when I read Marshall McLuhan, Canadian philosopher whose work is among the cornerstones of the study of media theory. His writings spoke about the idea of navigating the future with only rearview mirrors, and he argued that all views are needed and explained the short coming relying on just one. Like working with horses navigating each of them is navigating anew.

I think you are amazing. I'm a 75 yr old woman. Way back in the 70s I was one of almost no female farriers in my Michigan area. Things are very different now with supplies and care! It was $40 for a set of 4 shoes. I used to forge my own, had oakum and pads, made bar shoes,, barium in the winter. I think your plastic shoes are great, and your knowledge of horses is wonderful. Love watching your channel!

Good work to be among the first woman farriers in Michigan. I'm five years older and when I moved to a more urban area I became a truck and automobile mechanic and women had a difficult time getting work too only because of being a woman. What a sham to dismiss a pinch over 50% of humans because of gender.

I used glue-ons on my senior mare. She had a hard time standing on three legs for nailing and clinching steel shoes as she got into her late 20s and 30s. She did really well with them. I used a long piece of duct tape for temporary hold in case she picked up her foot, but usually she stood solid as the adhesive set.

Glue on composite shoes are really starting to be accepted every where now but finding a good farrier who does them is difficult everywhere. I live in the PNW and the closest one I could find was over 100 miles away so I decided to try them myself. So happy I did. Maybe next year you can put something up on the place where the birds nest ahead of time so they can't build a nest and hold your trailer hostage.

I love to watch your videos and see how you take care of your horses. I wished I knew, if just half of it when I was working at a riding school when I was young. At that time, people in Sweden didn't know about the kind of horsemanship you show. At least not in the traditional riding schools. I am not sure even today. I am so grateful I followed my intuition and didn’t treat the horses under my care so conventionally. If I had, I would be devasted with guilt today - especially, when I see your wonderful work. I will probably not have a horse again. I have too many problems with my body. But whenever I will talk with horse people I will mention your videos. Keep the hoof videos coming! They are an education. I like how you check the heels. I have not seen many traditional farriers do this.

Have you ever heard of the green glue that The Hoof GP uses?? He created it himself, and he uses it quiet often to glue blocks onto the cow hooves that need help.. He tested when he first started working on it and it literally held him upside down.. LOL, he glued his shoes to a board and they picked him up, upside down.. Anyway, i thought of you immediately when i saw this video...

I was thinking the same... wondering if it would work for there shoes to ...

@@charlenemartinez6917 I bet it would work fantastic, and she said that it wasn't how they look, but how well they work, so the color wouldn't be an issue.. I think if it will hold a block on a gigantic bull, with all the shenanigans they get up to, it wouldn't have a problem in the world holding on those shoes.. I hope she'll try it!! Wish I was able to, I would buy her a tube to try, but I'm on the struggle bus right now, so that's not an option for me..

I finally found the video I've been looking for.. In this video the Hoof GP modifies one of those type horse shoes for a difficult fix on a cow.. But it's definitely used on those type horse shoes, and it works great!! I'm computer illiterate so I don't have a clue how to get the link here, but it's The Hoof GP: these cows feet are HUGE!!!! April 30th 2024 Let me know what you think?

I learn so much from watching your videos! I never knew there were different types of shoes for horses, makes total sense of course! Studman looks so good! They all do, I probably say this all the time when I write a comment, but they all look so good! Beautiful! Thanks for sharing !❤❤
