My guess (given that he is built like a horse but is smaller) would have been Chincoteague "pony" but his hair is definitely wilder and his pattern rare for that "breed". While called "ponies" Chincoteagues are horses. Popular belief (and shipwrecks off the coast of the island support the theory) is that they are survivors of Spanish galleons headed for Peru during the 17th century. This would actually support his DNA heritage from the testing, I bet. Chincoteague regularly rounds up these feral horses to sell, in order to control the population on this Virginian island. Whether or not that is the origin of his Spanish blood, I encourage you to look it up and tell me what you think 😊

It’s an ermine. This little guy is what the royal trim is from on royalty state clothing. Their little tails were valued. It almost wiped them out and made them extinct.

Aww Pete, I think he does know he's safe, I think his early trauma though is now a default setting, on Pete's behalf I am so glad you're not an unscrupulous dealer who'd just pass him on 🥰

She looks so much like my first horse. Got her out of a herd in a field, 4 yrs old and had just weaned a foal. Had been sat on but never trained. She was the sweetest horse I have ever had.

About a year ago I watched a video of a young lady whose dream it was to win an endurance race. She bought an older Arabian and it was her first horse and they trained for about a year and they ended up winning the race. Such a great accomplishment.

I hope that you will never take the negative comments seriously. You are absolutely amazing in giving your horses the best life and care possible. Those horses have hit the owner lottery! I love each of your videos, I have loved horses since the first time I saw one. I’m old, never had my own horse, but I have definitely seen the love and work involved by your dedication. Thank you for sharing your journey with them. XO

The best yet, I say that with each share of this beautiful living life and story. It inspired me to reconnect with horses in a more tangible way, and on a winter holiday, we went to a stable and went for a ride. I was grateful they took extremely good care of the horses! I also, am going to move forward with something I have wanted to do for as long as I have been in our neighborhood. A 7 minute walk away are two horses in a corral. I met the owner this year, and she said I could absolutely come over and give the horses carrots. Usually their blankets are on, and I noticed they were off, and I thought, oh goodness, their top line looks a little wonky. So, now that we are dialed in to helping the one elder neighbor and her german shepherd dog's need for getting out for walks and some training, I am going to check in on these two horses. Perhaps I can work up to helping her with grooming them and mucking out stalls. I never see these guys get out of their corrals! She has a small ring. Once I did see her granddaughter riding in the neighborhood.
