I was taking NAC (which converts to glutathione iirc) but it was giving me really bad histamine reactions. I was getting flushed and red in the face and "hivey" and it took me about a week to realize it wasn't hay fever but was being caused by NAC. I went on Amazon and read some reviews by other customers of the supplement who reported similar reactions, so if you do start taking it, just be aware of possible adverse reactions. You can take glutathione as a supplement as well but I recall reading the bioavailability is lower than with NAC.

Yes, glutathione has been found to brighten the skin and help with hyperpigmentation and similar issues. We recommend choosing a liposomal glutathione supplement as it offers the highest bioavailability rate (the body can absorb these liposomes and direct them to the cells in need without wasting them).

I know exactly what you mean, I've come across this phenomenon myself. Some people suffer from low self worth and will sabotage their own health because at some unconscious level, they don't feel they deserve to be healthy. It can be a form of deeply repressed guilt they picked up when they were younger. They don't realise they're doing it, and when you tell them, they think you're being absurd. But through hypnosis or NLP you can usually find the root cause of it, and it's usually something really simple and stupid, but it still affected them.

This is what happens when you listen to youtubers with half-baked info. Taking NAC mega doses in isolation to boost GSH is a bogus, proven failed strategy for the following reasons. 1. For nearly 30,% folks, NAC does not directly upregulate intracellular GSH due to GCLC genetic mutation. In this case, it either generates reactive cystine residues (not cystiene) and/or generates toxic sulfites. 2. Many have MoCo - molybdenum cofactor deficiency and, in its presence, are not able to convert cysteine generated sulfites to sulfates. 3. Besides to generate GSH intracellularly from NAC, in a sustained way, you also need Glycine, selenium, magnesium, vit B6, vit B2, and vit C (redox cycling) & methylation support (P5P, R5P, 5MTHF, M-B12, Choline, SAMe, Glycine). 4. Glycine is a critical cofactor for GSH synthesis. So megadoses of NAC without sufficient Glycine stores are a disaster ! 5. NAC in nearly 40% folks has been found to create detox effects by chealting heavy metals and even critical minerals like copper, iron, zinc, manganese, etc. Some folks have a clogged phsse2 liver detox pathway, and this recirculates some of the chelated stuff back in the bloodstream and lymphatic system, causing allergic reactions. Better proven strategies : 1. Have free form Methionine with a fully methylated B complex (with P5P, folate, b12). Methionine is great for nrf2 and supports liver, pancreas, and non-essential aminos and will help in endogenously synthesising intracellular Cysteine and also provide benefits of SAMe (required as universal methyl donor). 2. The methionine & methyl B dosage can be used to regulate SAM/SAH ratios too and regulate CBS gene. In this pathway if you additinally supplement with molybdenum , you get taurine (antioxidant) as a byproduct + adding glycine will boost heme which is also a factor for GSH. 3. Glycine, Taurine are critical for bile acids , and support 100s of non-protein functions. 4. If your GCLC gene is slugguish, you can directly supplement acetylated GSH, which is stable. 5. Fasting - It has been clinically proven that intermittent fasting upregulates intracellular GSH esp if done daily in a disciplined way. 6. Improving Sleep quality - deeper your sleep, the more effective GSH your liver will produce. I use potassium, magnesium, glycine, and folate to have deep sleep. 7. HIIT - Can transiently upregulate GSH. 8. Vit C, esp when paired with rutin ,& and quercetin, will assist in effective recycling of GSH. 9. Carnivore + Vegan/Keto + IF can be used to recycle GSH better, esp when running on ketones. 10. Supplement with Essential Aminos, Glycine, Taurine, Methionine, Methylated B vitamins, Vit C, copper, zinc, magnesium, potassium.

Great video. Very informative. Are there any studies validating that claim that the foods you listed "boost" Glutathione? I ask because a frequent trope of the health industry is to just assume that eating the part or precursors of any given molecule will somehow trigger your body into making more of it. But generally speaking, this only works if you are experiencing a reduction in the target molecule specifically on account of a nutrient deficiency. Correcting that deficiency can bring you back up to baseline. But adding more of these parts and precursors (like sulphur) beyond that, typically doesn't result in increased production above baseline levels. What about in the case of glutathione? Will your body produce more glutathione just because it has a surplus of sulphur? Cheers.

Well said, eevilgeniouss. I know some vegetarians who are always sick, they are making themselves sick by worrying too much about health, fear of foods instead of appreciating that they are not dying from hunger. Their fear is poisoning their body, I think. Eating healthy is fine but overly fearing and complaining damage the body too.

Saveurs Ital i think your opinion is correct , loads of veggie people don't look necessarily healthy , reason might be is maybe difficult to be well nutrient balanced while you are pure veggie AND you are right argument "over fear " about food causes permanent stress and lack of enjoyment , happiness , hence what you describes ...

@gurumagoo It isn't like that here. What few animals you can catch have usually roamed around on farmland or other managed areas and been exposed to whatever chemicals they use. The minuscule size of my country compared to it's population also means that many of the wild plant foods grow near roads, golf courses, farmland and so on. The theoretically ideal place would be in the middle of national parks, but I think that's illegal.

Everything he said is right on the mark. He said this but I wish he would have stressed this more heavily is not to purchase glutathione when it is listed as a product in and of itself. Ingesting glutathione will breakdown to various compounds and is no longer glutathione. Your body has to manufacture glutathione from precursors such as NAC and other supplements and foods. Do not buy glutathione. It is expensive and a waste of time and money. Why is it sold? Answer is "let the buyer beware".

@WuWeiMama The largest obstacle to increasing natural Glutathione production seems to be unsufficent consumption of the amino acids Cystine/Cysteine as these appear quite scarcely in the foods we eat (I believe mostl richly in unprocessed milk and mother's milk). While a few of the other precursors do occur regularly in many of the foods you named, they unfortunately do not have an effect in increasing Glutathione if they are lacking in Cysteine, which seems to be the case in most foods.

greatsilentwatcher NAC is N-acetylcystein. A synthetic precurson for glutathione production. Used improperly it can be toxic. It is used commonly in Emergency Rooms to treat Tylenol overdoses if caught within 48 hrs of overdose. Natural sources are safer and and longer lasting. Best is cystine which is two molecules of cysteine with a sulfur bond. You would have to consume a bushel basket of raw broccoli each day to equal one dose of Immunocal which, in the opinion of many including Mark Hyman is best source of this important precursor. The other 2 precursors - glutamate and glycine are abundant in our diet. The addition of this simple peptide will make a significant impact in your health.
