I've made this challah bread recipe of yours about 5 times now and they're always just like yours but I did make some changes along the way due to my allergies. Kim, once again thank you so much for your recipes, especially the wonderfully put together GF all purpose flour concoction. First off, I had to replace the whey protein with equal weight in Orgain pea protein powder, only use two eggs, extra virgin olive oil, half cup maplesyrup instead of 1cp sugar and olive oil spray for browning instead of egg wash. The dough needed about half cup of extra water to compensate for the switch from 1cp sugar to half cup maplesyrup. I tented it with foil paper while baking and removed it the last 10 minutes for browning. It came out visually and texture wise just like yours!! Thank you!!!

Kim, thank you so, so much for all your amazing gluten free recipes! I'm almost crying. I live in Germany, and although there is some decent GF Toastbread you can buy, everything else is just a far cry of the original version. There is one bakery in the city I live who does really tasty cinnamon rolls, but they almost cost 4€ a piece. So, you understand my emotional outburst upon discovering your treasure vault of recipes. I'm trying your Italian pizza this evening and my dough is resting in the fridge since early morning. I had to let it proof for overnight, as I missed your instruction to proof the dough in the oven. It looks well risen now , though. Thanks again and all the best to you and your family! I might try baking again ❤️

I’m newly gluten free and have tried many different gf flours. Had some near success finally. Also tried several brands at the grocery, still not quite there. So I’m anxious to try both your sourdough recipe and the challa. Donna.

Kim thanks for this recipe. I made this sweet bread that resembles a lot Greek tsoureki and was very nice. I will definitely make it at Greek Easter and add mastic and mahlepi to resemble tsoureki. Thank you!!

This came out great, thank you!!! I'm thinking about trying it next time with the outer ring of a springform pan around it until the last 10 min of baking. I'm wondering whether that will help it rise more intead of spreading out. Thank you, this was a real treat!!!

That's a great idea! I found the round challah tends to spread more than a regular braided loaf.

If the person I'm making this for has an allergy to eggs, what should I use instead of them? Also, what could I use instead of eggwash? Love your videos by the way, I've never craved gluten free anything until I started watching you! I love baking, and my friend at school cant eat gluten, eggs, nuts, or chicken, so it's my mission to finally get him some good bread! Thank you!

You're so sweet!! I would love to write a cookbook some day. It's not financially feasible right now, but I hope it will be soon! Richmond is just a couple of hours away from us. We used to go to the Nascar races in Henrico :)

Hello! Can I replace the psyllium husk with xanthan gum? The one I found is dark and gives a purple colour to my breads and it doesn't look good.

Thank you for the recipe. My first try didn’t come out as expected. I am trying to figure out what I did wrong. The dough was refrigerated for more than 24 hrs. It was very sticky so I added flour. The inside was dark. What ingredient could be the cause? Thank you

Did you use my flour blend or substitute anything within the flour blend? It's almost always the culprit when someone says their dough is very sticky.

I love the taste of this bread. But my loaves come out small. What could be wrong? The taste, the texture is great. Carol

Hmmm, I'm not sure. Are you underproofing? Or it's possible you could be overproofing. There's a fine line and either will cause smaller, flatter loaves. But usually my guess is underproofing. Make sure to give the bread enough time, especially in the colder months, to proof until it is nearly doubled in size.

My dough was way too dry when mixing. No stretch. I weighed everything. I'm so worried it will be hard tomorrow when I get it out of the fridge

Hmmm. It's definitely not normal for the dough to be dry. If anything, it's usually overly wet. What did you use for the flour blend? It's so important in the final outcome.

Funny you should ask. I just tried it the other day with olive oil and I didn't particularly care for it. But it just may be my taste buds. It came out great in texture and everything. Just wasn't my cup of tea in flavor.

This sounds like a great recipe and I am going to use it--except for the canola or vegetable oil, seed oils are highly processed and cause inflammation! I will be using olive or coconut oil, or perhaps melted butter. And I will NOT use sugar. I do KETO so I will use erythritol.
