aahhhh sneaky, you also have a sw272u , is that for your video editing Glyn ? if so will you cover settings for video rec 709 as well, i use my sw321c mostly for video as opposed to photography at about 80% video so it would make more sense for me to have a main video profile, would that be good enough for prints/online as well ? by default the 1,2,3, on my puk is for switching between sRGB, RGB and rec 709, I'm guessing i can keep these and change prifiles in the menue buttons. thanks so much for this one Glyn.

Nice video but couple questions. What was the process you did to figure out the right luminance? The second question is more around the icy profile for printing. At this point I'm using Canon professional paper and their standard IC profile for the type of paper. Are you using your custom IC profile instead of your paper profile and if so why and what should I know about? Thank you.

great to get some more in-depth explanation about the underlying methodologies, i wish it wasen't so focused on BenQ's software, would be awesome to create a followup video with a selection of different monitor brands, perhaps a mid to high-end monitor and more traditional hybrid IPS monitor (usable for work, home editing and games). and naturally using the software that comes with your iDisplay spider or similar open source versions, i think this would help a lot of people trying to fine tuning and calibration against their own setup (being budget or pro), or for example, if you are on location and need to edit on a clients monitor (ex. borrowing a decent IPS monitor from an agency or friend), personally i've been in that situation a few times having to edit photos for online use on location :).

In fact I ask if you use the same calibration for the retouching job and the same for the printing job, but it seems not. And this is where my confusion comes from...can you help? The BenQ Displays are hardware calibrated so they are able to store different calibration settings within the display itself. They provide a hot key puk that you saw in the video that you can assign different functions ... I have 1 and 2 assigned ... button 1 sets the calibration / display to D65 and Absolute Black for Day to Day and button 2 switches the calibration to D50 and 0.5 Candela for the Black Point. It's just a matter of pressing a button.

I guess the 'warm' monitor was the one calibrated to D50 and yeah if you look from one to the other it will look that way. You need to see it withouth the influence of another (cooler) display) so that your eye adapt to it and you no longer notice the 'warmth'. I would only use this for when I'm looking to print though. Hello Glyn. Thanks fof the video and your advice. I just wanted to confirm that you are able to save your calibrated profile to one of the calibration slots on the puck. I think you mentioned Calibration 2, corresponding with button no. 2 on the control puck. Can you confirm in System Setting, in Display panel that the color profile was activated to the one you wanted when pressing button 2 on the puck? I have the same monitor, SW321C, on latest OS, with an Mac Mini M1, and it is not switching between the color profiles that I had it set to. Visually, on the monitor, a change is noted, but when I open the system setting within the OS, it is still one prior color profile. Tech support from BenQ is telling me that I cannot save any calibration profiles to any of the 1-3 buttons on the control puck! This explanation goes against everything that I read about the monitor and seen from others on the net. I am thinking that there is a glitch with the Palette ME or hardware of the monitor. Prob. monitor hardware is not saving the profile to the desired buttons on the puck, that i want.

In my case the profile is not changed when you press the button 1, 2 or 3 on the puck. It changes between the different calibration slot, but in the system settings the profile remains the same. I disucssed with several people and they say the same. Have you got any solution to this issue?
@maximilian.R
@maximilian.R 6 ะฐะน ะฑาฑั€ั‹ะฝ
@@planetinthelens Yes, I was able to assign three different color profiles to the three buttons on the puck, because thatโ€™s what I wanted for my situation. It does work, but one needs to follow the correct procedure to change the correct settings within the display menu. Also, I had to uninstall some other iStudio calibration software that was on my Mac because it might have interfered with the one from BenQ. Also, I reseted my display to factory, disconnected all cables to the Mac, and reconnected them. So, after all that I went into the display menu and changed the settings that are responsible for assigning the different color profiles to the buttons on the puck. In the Mac system preferences for the monitor, the profiles are selected correctly. Make sure the Pallet Master Ultimate app stays active all the time, so the puck can change your profiles. I have the SW321C display with the puck.
