What a treat to see the whole segment. Glynis was sublime as Desiree, just perfection. The gems you share are beyond compare.

I love Glynis Johns. Her interpretation of send in the clowns is the definitive version.

Watched this after Stephen Sondheim’s death. I always wanted to hear Glynis’ version, and it is wonderfully expressive. Thank you for uploading this video.

I had the thrill of working... well somewhat knowing Miss Johns when I had my foot in the door in my first entertainment job at a talent agency on my way to the Entertainment PR World. She was lovely! Kind, professional, and so respectful to people at all levels! She was a favorite to talk to from the NY Office and I'm only sorry I never took her up on contacting her once I moved to L.A. She was at once lovely and a hoot!

So great to see this. I remember this clip of Ms. Bartlett singing on Johnny’s show but not her short interview after and I’ve never seen Ms. Johns’ interview here or her singing Clowns, so thank you! I loved them walking off hand in hand. Saw this show 12 times so this was special to see.

Thank you, Alan. I feel somewhat refreshed seeing and hearing these two legends of entertainment. Glynis’ and Johnny’s careers remind one of a time when performers brought only their talent to the stage and allowed us to appreciate it for itself without their outside involvements.

I just learned that she was born in Pretoria, South Africa. A travelling show business family. What a life she had.

As a teen I used to watch Johnny Carson “late” at night while drinking sweet tea. Speaking of sweet, love Glynis and Send In The Clowns. Loved seeing Carson in his plaid jacket. Thanks, Alan, for all the sweet memories! (Want your foot read?) 😆🦶🏻

I had a boyfriend in the 70s who wore a jacket like that. I hated it. Maybe if I had known that Johnny had worn it I wouldn't have disliked it so much.

I've seen a few episodes of her 1963 TV sitcom "Glynis" and can't understand why it wasn't popular. It was a comedy-mystery and different than other sitcoms of the era. The critics hated it and apparently so did the audience. It was cancelled mid-season which was relatively unusual back then. Even such bombs as "It's About Time", "Pistols & Petticoats" and "My Mother the Car" ran for a full season.

The trumpets are awful - no subtlety - detracts from otherwise great performances.
