This was my 1st keyboard I started on when I was about 7. I had this keyboard from 2010 until it died in 2015. I'm 17 now about to be 18 in couple months. This bring a lot of memories. I'm buying the PSR 373 next month and I can't wait to experience it. Thanks for sharing this.

I found one of these in the trash years ago and threw it up in my attic. Found a 12V DC power supply. Decided to bring in down to use to record some demos. I'm not even a piano player but I'm hoping some of the funky effects will gives my songs a cool retro vibe. I need to download a manual though.

lol! I bought this keyboard last summer in 2019 in a Florida flea market for $5USD! It was one of the only keyboards that worked and had a power adapter to try it out with. No touch response made it a not so fun and way too loud keyboard to play but it did allow me to play some tunes I had in my head to practice them. But that is about IT.. On the DJX. I have the DJX2 and it DOES sound nice, but it took a while for me to figure out the PATTERNS mode. Not your typical portatone keyboard setup. The caveat of all these 1990s Yamaha keyboards was the dreadful all plastic keybeds! On pretty much ALL my 90s Yamaha home keyboards with full sized keys, the keys get stuck in the down position or some mistrigger due to the key getting jammed. It is a design defect that Yamaha FIXED in the later models of which I own only ONE. These keys can break off real easy on the thin plastic pivot point too. The newer ones are real thick now. So not bad ELECTRONICS, but bad keybeds.. baaaad!

100% agree. Good bargain you got at the flea market though!

I got this keyboard about 10 years ago from a charity shop for £15 Shoved it in the cupboard because it didn't have a sustain but I could of just plugged in a Jack connector at the back. Any way when I put My studio together I'll have this and the Yamaha pss 570 in there.

My last PSR was a 280. It was OK, but when I acquired a MOTIF 6.... well, no comparison. BTW, I had purchased a PSR-260 and only held onto it for two days, returned it for a refund and got the 280.

hey man not sure if you would know this but I’m a semi beginner looking for a keyboard and i’m in between this and the psre-263. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations? I’m looking for something that doesn’t sound too cheesy but also doesn’t cost over like $100 used. Any feedback is appreciated!
@gearfacts4 жыл бұрын
The PSRE263 sounds a lot less cheesy. These 90's/early 00's keyboards have very thin piano sounds and somewhat annoying beats. Anything with that "E" in it (as in PSR-E453 etc) has next-gen sounds which are much more pure.

@gearfacts6 ай бұрын
Wouldn’t pay that much personally, and also I think I’ll be looking for something a little bit slimmer for travel. Not saying it’s a terrible keyboard, but I think there would be better options out there on the secondhand market.

@@gearfacts thanks, didn't buy one in the end. Only issue is that the kids didn't get to practice for 3 months. 2nd hand keyboards in Tenerife were far too expensive and hard to track down. This was the only electronic keyboard I had ever played years back. I am now thinking of buying the Casio CT-X3000 or its Yamaha equivalent. I know those keyboards are not weighted just like this old one, but I'm just wondering if there is any noticeable improvement in the feel of the keys compared to something like this which is 18 years old? Thanks.
@gearfacts3 жыл бұрын
The Casio CTX3000 keys are very soft, squishy and mechanically smooth. Some might say "Lifeless". The equivalent would be the Yamaha PSR-E463 which has a more solid keybed. If keys are really important to you though, also have a look at the Korg EK50, its keys are superb.
