Thank you for uploading the in-depth review. This was my first ever Yamaha keyboard back in 2010, and the one that introduced me the basics of multi-track MIDI recording. Way back, I use it a lot for composing, arranging and making covers
@gearfacts3 ай бұрын
No worries ;) Yep it's still a perfectly useable keyboard today with plenty of good features.

@@gearfacts If you have $300-400, I recommend looking for an used PSR-S550 or PSR-S700 rather than the latest E-series if you want to do some sequencing and editing on a budget

@@vito_keys Yep they're better for composing. I think the E-series are aimed more at live performance and instant thrills :)

Maybe it would be good for you to have a pattern for your vids. (I see you have followed an advice on showing something on the rythm section). A pattern a suggest to you (it could be developed in several vids): 1.- Sounds (a few of different kinds: piano, organ, guitars/bass, strings, horns, voces, synths, percussion, folk instruments). 2.- Rythm section. (Like in the sounds section) 3.- Controls (keys, effects, synths section if ..., recording, learning section, ...) 4.- Compared to ... (other models, companI es ...). Thanks a lot, anyway. Love this channel.

I am looking at purchasing an S550 for a back up keyboard... and I'm very surprised to see that you have a black one. Everyone I have seen is silver colour. I use an S770 at Church and I was just looking for something to leave on the stand. Various reviews say this keyboard dates back to 2001 but I don't think that could be correct. ...what say you sir? @gearfacts8 ай бұрын
Yeah, I too, have only seen grey/silver versions. This is literally the only black one I’ve ever seen in the PSR-S series. Weird stuff comes and goes through my studio :-)

thank you for a clear comparison... when a video is done right, like yours, everybody wins... psr-s500 is the one for me but I wonder if you could do the same kind of video that you did here for the next level-up from the psr-s500... that next step into pro standard you mention... I think that's where I'm headed but I would like to know how many levels into pro standard do I have to go to get a noticeable difference... or is it like ka-boom with no looking back? :] thanks again for another great video
@gearfacts4 жыл бұрын
Oh I think there's a pretty clear "Ka-boom". There's a clear line between home keyboards and pro keyboards (to my ears)

Hi, there's something I've trying to understand about the psr s550 as I'm trying to acquire one. Can I load a drum beat style from a USB flash drive onto this keyboard and play along side it?
@gearfacts2 жыл бұрын
Not 100% but I think beats can only be loaded as MIDI files (complete songs).
@jordanlivesey4715 Жыл бұрын
@@gearfacts you should be able to load styles, you've been able to do that since the psr 730 back in 1997

What is better: - PSR S550 or CTX 5000? For me they are very similar in features. The point is that the PSR 550 is an old keyboard. What would you choose?
@gearfacts Жыл бұрын
I would chose the PSR-S550 because it is so much easier to use.

needs a direct comparision of sounding with E373. also interesting to compare with new SX600 and above

It’s a totally different sound engine though. The PSR-S series is sonically superior to all PSR-E keyboards.

Damn just today i saw a PSR-S750 and it was great, could you tell me what are the major differences between the PSR-S750 and the PSR-S670? I do know that the 670 has the live controls and the 750 doesn't anything else i'm not so sure of.
@gearfacts4 жыл бұрын
In my short experience, the knobs were the glaring difference
@blueterminal74952 жыл бұрын
S750 has step edit in songs and style creations, S670 does not have. S670 has small LCD so it displays a chunk of information. S750's LCD displays more information (since its larger), has a higher contrast and resolution which is much better compared to the S670s blue screen. S750 has 32 Super Articulation voices (Which i love), while the S670 does not have any. S750 has the side buttons which makes it easier to navigate, compared to the S670 which has direction buttons. S750 has standard MIDI ports (MIDI in, MIDI out) S670 is more portable than S750 due to its weight being 8.8kg compared to the 11.5kg of the S750, so thats an ideal travelling keyboard. S670 has an arpeggiator, while the S750 does not.
