Glyphosate vs Round up | The ULTIMATE LAWN AND WEED KILLER

The best weed killer are the two hands God gave you. Bend over, grab a weed, and pull. If you want to go the extra mile, throw the weeds that have no seed heads, in a bucket, let them putrify, and then feed all the minerals they took up back to your lawn diluted 10 to 1 with water. No toxic chemicals, no pet cancer, you don't have to worry about killing bees or the soil microbes that feed your lawn. The best part is, since you didn't kill all the life in the soil, mother nature might not need to create more weeds again next year to try to bring balance back again. Weeds are nature's band aids. They are only there to fix the soil when its off balance. Get good soil full of life, have no weeds. Try adding compost and overseeding instead. I've never sprayed my lawn with anything since my house was built and have next to no weeds. I add compost every season, a bit of sulphur to acidify the limestone underneath, and anything I find, I rot down and feed it back. My whole neighborhood is spraying with spetracide and you can't even walk your dog anymore without suffocating from all the toxic fumes in the air, much less go work in your yard. The suburban addiction to herbicides is beyond my comprehension. I offered to weed some of my neighbors front yards and it literally took one pair of gloves, a bucket, and 30 minutes of work. It takes longer than that for you guys to drive to Home Depot...

@@Domineon It's not subjective at all. You can destroy the health of the soil, yourself, your pets, the butterflies, the bees, and the rabbits or you can promote their health. We won't even get into runoff and the nationwide loss of topsoil. It's a simple choice. If you can't bend over, then you cannot apply herbicide properly anyway and are violating the federal law on the label.

I have both brands. Compare and Save worked fast enough and I see no weeds, grass - nothing. I used it and hours later a sudden rain storm. Didn't affect it at all. Now I have to deal with Roundup under outside shed. Keep doing these videos!

When buying generic glyphosate watch that it’s rainfast when dry. Roundup has several versions. Even Roundup that is not glyphosate. I dunno why. I buy it without other herbicides mixed in with it. Like you pointed out, that quick burn down defeats getting a complete kill in weeds like poison ivy.

Awesome! you made a wise choice with the compare n save, also dont be discouraged if you dont see the grass dye off right away, it takes atleast 1 week to see its effects. If you are trying to completely remove the grass then i recommend doing 2 applications 1 week apart from each other. Thanks for watching patch!

Do I need to dangle the sprayer 6 inches from the grass for effective cover? I was crouching down trying to cover as much grass as possible, because holding the wand 2 feet above the grass doesn't seem effective. The grass area I want to kill is the same size/larger than the lawn in your video.

Yeah, good call. You don't want to apply a ground sterilizer if you're going to turn around and plant seeds. Glyphosate is ideal for what you were going to do because it won't leave a residual herbicide behind in the soil, Glyphosate doesnt get absorbed through soil/roots that keeps your new lawn seeds from germinating or being healthy. BUT any blend with Diquat, like you mentioned, could cause problems for your next lawn's health.

I used Goundup to kill weeds in rock yard, but the weeds in the grass area became dead. What must I need to do to repair the grass area that got sprayed? I was told it would kill the weeds only and it won't harm the grass at all.

Good stuff. Glad I watched this before tackling my reno. Started "the kill" with Compare-n-Save 4 days ago to get ready for my SS1100. There's no noticeable difference where I sprayed. Had I not watched this, I would have called the product a failure, bought Roundup and sprayed it. Now I know to wait. I'm so bad at patience. I will probably hit it a second time at the 10 day mark. actually it is not better, glyphosate is absorbed threw the leaves and slowly travel to the roots to kill the plant, if you apply too much to the leave before it is fully absorbed you can burn the leaf to the point of mal absorption resulting in diminishing returns

Excellent video! Concise and to the point. You answered questions I never even thought of asking. I was about to order Round Up, but now know glyphosate is the better choice for my bindweed. A horticulturist recommended killing the roots by stuffing the bindweed in a plastic bag, make a small hole in the bag where you can insert spray nozzle and spray the herbicide. The plant must be kept alive for days while it drinks it up delivering the poison to its root system. Round Up would've kill the foliage immediately so that wouldn't work.

Hi Knick Nation, i started the kill in mid July and sowed my new seeds in mid August, you can deff do it but i highly advise against doing it in the spring as the chances for the grass to survive in the summer are slim. I live in chicago, so we both have a very simular climate (guessing your in NY lol). Hi, which product, do you think, would work better to kill the roots of very very aggressive ornamental grasses....?...i've just spent a lot of $, (for me), to uproot ornamental grasses that are spreading everywhere...They are taking over the entire lawn, and going into the next door neighbors....Aggressive is an understatement for these particular grasses...they are an absolute nightmare....i just don't have much money to keep hiring people to spray, etc....Also, what sprayer are you using and where did you get it...?...i just bought one at harbor freight tools but i have to keep pumping it and it barely comes out....It looks like you didn't pump it in this video......Or if you have a better recommendation for a sprayer...probably no more than 1.5 gallons, which one would you recommend...?......Thank you very much....

Hi dawn, I would recommend the pure glyphosate but it will kill anything and everything it touches which may not be what you are looking for.. Do you know exactly what type of grasses they are? There may be a better solution. Anytime I spray glyphosate I always use the cheapest sprayer possible because I don’t want to contaminate my good sprayer with glyphosate. If your looking for a good one then I Rec the sprayers plus 105ex but I would not put glyphosate in it.

@@reflection8578 no problem! you can apply a preemmergent like preen but it won’t be sustainable long term and they will keep growing no matter what you do. Exposed dirt is like a magnet and the weeds will always find a way to grow in it. If it’s viable, lay down some landscape blankets and then cover it with some type of mulch. Lowe’s and Home Depot usually have spring time sales where you can get big bags for 1-2 dollars

Actually glyphosphate is somewhat touch and go. If you spray at the wrong time ,it doesn't work so good. Also 24D is pretty much useless . I'm going to switch to diesel fuel , which is going to stink like hell. I might also try that Vinegar idea. But adding soap and salt to that doesn't seem to me to be a good idea. Especially the salt part !

glyphosate is the main ingredient in round up, but most round up products include other herbicides as well. Pure glyphosate takes 1 week to kill and the round up products such as 'round up plus' take 1 day BUT its not a full and complete kill then if you used pure glyphosate alone. Kinda confusing i know, thats what brought me to make this vid, thanks for watching jaybe!

Hi Dave! Yes, absolutely, you will want a cheap separate spayer when using non selective herbicides, sorry i should have been more clear in the video. You can use your regular go to sprayer with selective herbicides no problem, just keep the gly seperate

I suggest just a solo solo 4 gallon backpack sprayer low cost low maintenance no grease required. I seen them spay hundreds of gallons with minor problems. Just empty it add some water and spray it out then mix a lawn spray I mix qlyphosate with a mcpa dicamba fluroxypyr aka Change up and a pre emergent flumioaxin with a surfactant. total vegetation kill and it inhibits an enzyme for chlorophyll production, no weeds for 8 months basically. And I can rinse it out my backpack and spray change up only on a lawn no issues.
