I used a long piece of all thread and attached a big washer between 2 nuts. I used that to scrape all the dirt out of the axle housing and then used a shop vac with some old attachments to further clean it up and it worked well.

The real question is……………… how much grease do you put in the hubs? Very controversial. I’ve seen them loaded up to the brim with grease which burnt the bearings out and just a small coating on the race, fill the bearings and a little on all the splines. Maybe a little squirt for good luck. I am interested in the crossover steering. Mainly for comfort. I don’t rock crawl but mainly hunting trails so it’ll be nice not to have the steering wheel get ripped out of my hand. My3/4 ton suburban has the 10 bolt front and my 80 parts frame has the Dana44 which I’m planning on swapping around because I hate th adjuster sleeve and the d44 is stronger from the factory. No need for a d60 honestly. Awesome videos by the way. Very detailed, clean working environment, and not too much details to scare people away from doing these jobs themselves…… awesome stuff, I’m glad you posted your work!!

I have a jeep with this axle swapped. It is hard for me to find the right parts. What hubs are those? What vehicle would i say it goes to? Everything i have looks the same as yours. Awesome video by the way.

@charlesdudding2095 Mine is just a very common GM 10-bolt. I got the hubs from ORD here: www.offroaddesign.com/warn-10-bolt-or-dana-44-internal-style-locking-hubs-fits-all-1-2t-gm-axles-and-77-and-newer-3-4t.html

And if you're looking for other parts, you could just look up something like a 1985 GM K10 or K20 pickup. They would all have either the GM 10-bolt or a Dana-44 which are nearly identical axles.
