Mine was leaking in that exact same spot. I scrubbed it with a wire brush and engine degreaser, then patched it with JB weld, right in place, no disassembly necessary. been holding for almost a month now, not one drop. It took like 20 minutes to clean and patch. The hardest part was finding the leak.

The pump on the np246gm transfer case will wear 3 pin holes, the 4th pump tab is in a thicker spot on the housing. You will hopefully notice the oil spots on the tailgate or hatch of your truck or suv before it grenades. A quick “road trip” fix is to clean the spots with a wire wheel and brake cleaner then apply a tube of permatex ultra gray over the outside of the 3 holes in the rear case half and viola’ temporary permanent fix… use jb weld quick steel if you don’t have time for the permatex to cure.

Hey Tom I recently took apart a NVG-136 from a 2005 Chevy Astro and I was wondering how the oil pump works? I see the internal splines and I'm guess the oil is suctioned from the sump and send to places where its needed but I'm not sure how the oil gets there. I was wondering if you could explain how the oil gets from the pump to the places that need lubrication thanks.

That piece the case saver is factory. No one put that in there GM could’ve done a better job putting a different type pump in it and they would never have had that problem.
