Catch can installed on a 2011 Buick Enclave with the GM 3.6 direct injection V6. This same engine is shared with the Chevrolet Traverse (2009-2017) GMC Acadia (2009-2017), and Saturn Outlook (2009) so the setup will be close to the same. I wanted to make this video for people wanting to know how to install a catch can on this particular engine, how to mount it and run the hoses.
These engines have issues with the PCV system - the intake and intake valves getting carboned up due to direct injection. The PCV valve has too small of holes on it from the factory, so modifying the valve is important by drilling it out, so the engine can vent easier and not sludge up. That alone is good, but adding a catch can like this one will intercept all of the vented oil and moisture, and make it so very little oil gets into the intake and valves.
It is worth mentioning that some people have installed another catch can on the "clean air" side of the PCV system, to keep the throttle body clean. I have not had issues with the throttle body getting really dirty, so at this point no catch can is needed.
