I wish more young men would overcome the stigma, anger, or just plain old thick headed attitude they all have in their early 20's. You did a phenomenal thing for a loving dyeing man son, you showed him love, and respect, and you now have happy memories of him for the rest of your life. I went through this with my father, he was very sick but no one would tell us what it was that was ailing him, until one Dr. slipped and told my mom he had cancer of the larynx. That was just the beginning of 12 years of different cancers, some bad ,bad times. He ended up having the cancer on his larynx treated with radiation and chemo. He had three different melanomas, one on each ear lobe, and one on the back of his hand, but the lung cancer was what ended him, it was a race between the lung cancer stage 4 and the recto Colo cancer. We finally had to have him hospitalized two days before he turned 62, his pain meds were so strong he constantly would hallucinate, and lost most of his strength. He could not sit on a toilet, or get up off one. So my mother and I had him admitted to the near by Sunnyside Keizer hospital. That night I punched an intern in the nose and broke his nose. He let my Dad sit on a bare gurney, no sheets, blankets ad a single hospital gown with no tie straps. I asked this excuse for a nurses aid parading as a Dr. if they could cover my father up and get a gown that at least tied and covered the basics. And could he tell us what was wrong with my father, her turned on one foot, looked at my worn out tired Mom, my two sisters and I and blurted out "He's dying of lung cancer and I am not in charge of laundry ask a nurse." I grabbed him by the throat slammed his head into the wall, punched him five times until my older sister pulled me off of him. And I then told him what I thought of him. Security showed up and wanted to call the County Mounties on me. I was so pissed I knocked one of them on his ass. My mom made me go out side and walk it off. When I came back my poor dad was still sitting there no blankets and freezing cold air coming in the ambulance doors he was sitting by. My younger sister went on a laundry hunt, found the blankets and a gown that had ties. We managed to keep me out of jail, and get my dad a room. Two days later at 5:17 AM PST he died in my arms. I told him that soon angels would come for him and it was okay to go home with them. He opened his eyes one last time and whispered I love you son, take care of your mom for me, and then took a long last breath and was gone. For all of you who have had a similar experience, thank you for helping you dad, uncle, neighbor who ever it was, you did the bravest thing you will ever do in your life, you helped a very sick older gentleman make his way from life to death with dignity.

You do not have to break the fuel lines loose at fittings just remove the bracket bolt under the lines at the back of manifold pop lines from spider assembly, and lift them up and secure them with a wire tie. I do it this way, saves time and effort and reduces the chance of another fuel leak .
@stevemadak62552 жыл бұрын
@5:30 you do not have to take those back ones apart. Remove the bracket that holds it to the manifold and just remove the fuel lines from where they tie into the top. At this point you can gently lift it out of the way and out it back when done.

Why exactly did chevy make those fuel poppet valves out of plastic? I mean, isn't a fuel system a really high pressure, high heat system that needs to last as long as possible? Seems kinda odd to me. I like GM, but why did they think that was a good idea when Ford was using Electronic Multi-Port Systems? I guess I'll never know. Thanks for sharing this, by the way. Great video, even though it’s awhile back I had a question for you. I’ve been dealing with older model chevy trucks, there is one thing the same at the fuel pipe connection to the spider itself. The fuel pipe retainer is all the same for so many years and on a lot of GM engines. During watching I noticed the retainer is shown to be installed with the flat side up and the side that has the extension that go around the fuel pipe is facing down. (Hope you understand what I mean) the reason I’m asking is because I have seen them in either direction. I’ve never been able to find a cut sheet or a book that shows the correct way (If there is a correct way). Any ideas? Thanks Steve
@WinnfieldCustoms3 жыл бұрын
yes that piece should fit tight around the fuel lines to clamp it in place. The lines seal inside the spider unit so I guess it really wouldn't matter as long as there is some type of force holding them down.

What are the benefits to this? I have a 2001 blazer and I am not sure if it was changed previously by previous owners but I don't have any problems with the fuel injection system. Just wondering if people do this upgrade to actually improve fuel consumption or just a general upgrade from the original when theres a problem with the old one
@cartoonist19759 жыл бұрын
The long tube allows the end of the injector to be recessed away from heat and vapors that cause carbon build up on the end of the injector.By performing this upgrade you will notice a smoother idle, better throttle response and all-around better performance.

be careful with the wiring on the new MPFI spider. Sharp edges on the clip inside the intake manifold that holds the central unit can cut the wires. After mine failed (blown ECM1 fuse) I pulled the connector on the intake manifold. Checked impedance on all the pins on the manifold/spider (not the harness...the pins on the manifold). They should all be 0 ohms. If any of them indicate impedance you have a short between the FI wire and the metal clip. Injector poppets run at low voltage, so using a test light might be an issue. That metal clip has sharp edges. I removed mine and filed edges smooth (the vertical edges are the issue). The MPFI spider comes with insulator tubes installed on the wires/hoses. Mine were slid down toward the injectors.....not where they are needed. Slide these up toward the central unit/clip to protect your wires. Try to arrange the tubes/wires so they aren't binding on edge of the clip. I have not seen this failure discussed anywhere before.

I had my 99 S-10 4.3 did maybe 3 years ago.When I checked all the stores for the price of the injectors they all said you have to order the bracket separately(just over 30 bucks I think was the cost)-apparently you can't reuse the old one.When I opened the box from Advanced guess what else was in the box!!! got my money back on the other bracket-paid Pep Boys 328.00 to change to the multi port setup-no problems since then.I would have tried to do it myself but the last time I fooled with the motor trying to install a throttle body spacer it idled pretty rough so I had to take it off & let someone else do it for 75 bucks.
