I’ve been working on this beautiful Orange 1970 Nova off and on for a few months, ever since Billy swapped the stock 10 bolt for a STRANGE 9” with 3.50 gears, and pulled the M20 4 speed and replaced it with a TREMEC TKX 5 Speed.
Unfortunately someone had gotten into the carburetor and kinda messed it up. And despite what some think, 🤣 I don’t HAVE to just replace every Carburetor I come across with a brand new ATM.
Believe it or not haters… I can actually tune engines well enough to correct issues I didn’t cause to begin with 🫡
BUT, can I actually DRIVE IT? 572 CUBIC INCHES, 5 SPEEDS, and a 50 year old washed up Ditch Digger… what could possibly go wrong?! 🤣
PLUS!!! Vicki drags me to COSI to visit the Titanic Exhibit and we got tossed out of the parking garage, and almost tossed from the exhibits themselves. 🥴

The man of the carburetors is the old man for sure he knows how to tune them and make them run and I think when the Monte Carlo gets done with the turbos the old man is going to surprise everybody on it and show them that the old man still has what it takes to keep up with the young guys with fuel injection stuff. I can’t wait to see the old man banging gears in the Monte Carlo with twin turbos with an atm blow through carburetor on it

I’ve been a Chevy guy most all of my driving life (and that's a long time, a whole bunch of years older than Bill H.). I’ve had some pretty decent home built hot rods over the years and still have a rare Chevelle ragtop I’ve owned since new, over 53 years. I just enjoy the hell out of the Old Mans Garage series and even more so Billy the Kids episodes. Right now, my son and I are playing around with his car at his house, a 72 Chevelle pro street 2 Dr hdtp w/468BB, modified turbo 400 trans, coil over ladder bar suspension [3 link] and a 4.11 Dana Posi rear. Future plans call for a bigger motor, min 540ciBB. Just love the 572 Nova and B the K’s race truck ! Keep up the great work Bill, Billy and company. Your series rock and make my day !

We used to be a food source for those big ol skeleton remains thing's and I'm guessing they were pretty sneaky while being on the hunt..I watched Titanic several times, purty durn good movie and I use to have the DVD..I can only imagine what it'd be like to watch it on a big screen tv instead the older box tvs..I still have 1 and I still watch the thing every now and then..I used to love tinkering with carburators and all the things it takes to get peak performance and I use the want to yank the gear shifter out of the floor cause I use to love grabbing cogs instead of awful matics doin all the work for me..After building a 66 Belvedere with a 727 trans with 4.11 gears and a shift kit in the trans wasn't no missing 3rd gear anymore and it spoiled me but I still love yankn cogs with a 4 or 5 speed stick. Backwards to the shift kit. I watched the guy do the transmission and it's crazy how he rerouted the fluid and all that..It makes me wonder who the first person was to figure that out cause when I'd click into another gear itd hit harder than any 4speed I've had..I got into Mopar for awhile but I'm back into Chevy's after I figured how much power these newer LS engines make..I still can't believe it although small block Chevy's and big blocks never hurt the wallet to bad and if I ever wanted a big or small block engine..I'd go on the hunt of worn-out looking campers and some of em was given to me to get em out of their yard lol..Big ol 454 or a 440 engine setn in em with very low miles and if I'd ever wanted a Chevy 350c.i engine I'd go on the hunt for a small Chevy camper that was trashed inside with a 350c.i 300hp 4bolt main engine. Do everything on a cheap budget and I ended up with 700 to 800hp easy especially buying new heads in the corner at Summit Racing..People that ordered stuff and didn't come to get it, sometimes you can hit jackpot and buy the whole corner full of stuff cheap like 50% to 75% off the regular price...My daughter lives like a mile from Summit Racing in Tallmadge Ohio and that's my info with parts and yes they will overnight discount parts..My first time going into the store. It blew my mind how well stocked they were..Heads camshafts and everything on the shelves. I think you could build a complete car, if they'd let you and drive the dagon thing outa the parking lot and roll..They have everything and it blew my mind. Headlights taillights body's frames, everything lol...What's even more amazing is Summit County Ohio was Summit Racings first of 6 or 8 stores nationwide...I'm pretty sure they can get anything you'd want or need..Love the SRC Channel and yalls youngns are doin exactly what me and my brother did...We were constantly building something for drag racing and it bugs me where I'm living now. .People don't know anything about building horsepower cause they think a 4barrel intake with dual exhaust and a hoodscoop is all they need..They know nothing about camshafts, spray and all that..I have managed to take several car's with a 4cylinder Pontiac Grand Am 2.2 ecotec 4cylinder engine and I reckon I'm just outdriving em here in Wva in a small town of people that just don't get it lol..I could've taken a couple Chargers and Challengers with car's I've won but they wasn't paid for so I'd make em throw cash in the pot and take it..Enough of my rambling, I'm just into the sport that I started doing in the 70s into the early 80s..I don't remember why I quit racing, maybe I's to interested in raising my bbgrl that's in Tallmadge Ohio doin great, I hope cause she wouldn't tell me if she wasn't doing well..Nah, she'll tell me cause she's always been straight up with me..That's a bad ol Nova and I know I'm fixing to sound so silly but in the 70s a buddy of mine had a 68 or 69 Nova with a what we thought was a 250 straight 6cylinder engine with a 2speed power glide trans in it..His brother has a 66 or 67 Nova that got a vehicle smashed into the roof of the car cause the way some of the dirt roads and driveways are in Wva, you can honestly get your vehicle trashed by someone running down a dirt road onto the pavement and over the embankment into the roof of a car or truck..Anyhow, back to the 68 or 69 Nova..The only salvageable part on the 66 Nova street car was the rearend cause everything else was smashed badly..A 66 Plymouth Satellite Sport met the same fate..Anyway, we put the rearend and found a 4barrel intake for the 68 Nova with N50 Mohawk tires on the rear, that little 6banger would swell the tires up and outrun V8 engines that wasn't really built..Stock engines with what GM said had 325 to 375hp in a 327 engine..I was so amazed how well that 6cylinder red Nova ran..I'm thinking 13.26 seconds wasn't bad for a quarter mile run, so he said plus he showed me the E/T slip of paper from the track cause I had to work that weekend. Race night was any night up Armstrong Creek Rd where I was born and raised..They used to race under Montgomery Wva bridge on the weekends until the poleece started lining up with em and away they'd go but they always had the 4 lane blocked at the other end and people stood on the overpass and never warned anyone that the road was blocked with poleece lol..The audience just wanted to see races so we went waaaaay up in the coal holler I grew in and made our own straight 8th mile place to race..It was pavement but I didn't have any problems with it..Only thing I didn't like is when a sore loser tried putting me in the creek that was a good 60ft drop over the bank into the creek..One time was all it took..I thought, if ya wanna play bumper car's I'm game. .I gapped the guy and on the way back down the road I pushed him wide open down outa that holler cause everybody seen him trying to wreck me. .I'm pretty sure that I pushed him waaaaay over 100mph down the road until I thought he had enough and yes we fought but that was nothing unusual. .We never let him race anyone in our loop but I don't know if he ever tried to wreck anybody anymore cause it's not cool, especially at high speeds. .I didn't care if I won or lost cause I enjoyed doing it lol. .20 to 50 bucks is all we'd race for but after winning several races that was good money back in the 70s lol..I almost quit my job just to focus on racing until I started losing badly so I decided to stay employed and keep it thataway lol...
