I like your content dude! I was curious, I just got a Boss Cube Street 2 busking amp. It only has inputs for mics and instruments. If I used an amp/cab simulation pedal such as the Boss IR-200 or an HX Stomp, would I plug it in to the instrument line? I'm curious if you have any videos addressing the issue. Thanks!
@GearSounds9 ай бұрын
For any any modeling you're going to want to go through the mic and instrument channel and then you're going to want to switch to the instrument where you see the keyboard. This is because the keyboard instrument track is much more full range and you'll be able to get more of the low and high end that way. If there is no guitar simulation or modeling going on You will want to make sure you are going through the guitar channel and not just the instrument channel on the very left hand side. I did pull up a video and I'm glad you appreciate the content. I hope I earned your subscription and thank you so much for the super thanks. Let me know if this clears it up, if not try out what I did mention and see if you get the full range of your audio. Then flip the switch the other direction or plug it into the guitar section and you'll see what I mean. When you plug a cabinet simulation into the guitar channel you won't get the full range audio that it necessitates. I hope that helps
@GearSounds9 ай бұрын
If I did have a video addressing this issue it wouldn't be very long but I do mention this for synthesizers. The same applies here. Simply think of it this way, impulse responses, cabinet simulation and synthesizers as well as keyboard all require amplifiers with a more full range than a guitar amplifier can provide. Only amplifiers meant for this purpose such as your busking amplifier which provide an instrument section which is clearly defined for keyboard can provide such a full range. For an even better full range designed for impulse responses specifically you can get what's called an FR cabinet or full range cabinet. I forgot to mention that in the previous comment.
@ThePokeCzech9 ай бұрын
@@GearSounds Thanks for the response. The Boss Street Cube 2 has an electric guitar channel, but the quality isn't very good. I was wanting to use my Boss IR-200 and bypass the built-in amp simulator. I figured I should run the IR-200 into the instrument line, but I can't find any content on this online.
@GearSounds9 ай бұрын
@ThePokeCzech you'd be correct But even this isn't going to give you exactly the response you crave. If you are dissatisfied with how this sounds The boss cabinet simulation will be the limiting factor. Even sending it into the keyboard channel will only allow it to breathe a little bit more and give it more headroom. I would suggest using a more full range speaker with the cabinet simulator or upgrading the cabinet simulator to a two notes captor X. Outside of plugging your cabinet simulator into the keyboard channel of this amp I don't see any better way of improving the quality of sound. Have you tried setting the EQ to noon on everything? That usually fixes some issues. What exact issues are you having and in what frequency ranges?
@ThePokeCzech9 ай бұрын
@@GearSounds I don't have any issues, at least not yet. I ordered a Boss IR-200 and I was just wondering how to run it into the Cube Street. It hasn't arrived yet. No channels seem to address this issue.

Maybe something like a dual axis expression/volume pedal would allow you to blend the synth/guitar with your feet?
@GearSounds10 ай бұрын
Yes, the only issue being that these go into two channels. If that is a true solution I'll have to look into it further. If it has two inputs and two outputs it would work.

Excellent comping there! 👏 Don’t worry about the people, they’re all in there own heads; you’re gifting them some atmosphere! 👏 It sounded great. Maybe, another cube for stereo? And if you want more attention, perhaps, some wardrobe tricks? 👍
@GearSounds Жыл бұрын
I am limited to 107 dB but that is measured per speaker and not as a total sound so I might be able to get away with a stereo set up. Comping? Thank you for your kind words, I recently got a ticket here for $75 so I'm not sure I'll be back trying to perform. I think I will just stick to pedal demos as those have always been more popular than my music anyways. The noise tickets and parking tickets exceed the income 😂🤦♂️.
@kahlrhoam6769 Жыл бұрын
@@GearSounds; ‘Comping’ is kind of slang for improvisation over a running audio track. It sucks that you got a ticket. If you’re in L.A., you can definitely get a municipal permit to busk. Anywhere else, I don’t know, but the City/ County office(s) could inform you. Keep on dude! 👏
@GearSounds Жыл бұрын
Thank you, I'm happy to learn a new slang term lol. I always just called this improvisation but it is my original music. I do have a busking license but it is really unfriendly here for musicians like myself. I will definitely keep up with gear sounds but I think I am quitting music to focus on business with this channel.

how can you switch between the guitar sound and the synth sound ?
@GearSounds Жыл бұрын
You can't. If you notice what I say in the intro it isn't possible, however I found a way to do it. Turn down guitar volume to turn guitar on and off, and set the gm800 so that one of the switches turns all synth voices on and off at once. I then have the synth going to a keyboard channel and the guitar going to a guitar channel. Mission accomplished.

Turning off volume on guitar is the way i use . İ m searchin the ways to mute gm800. Would A volume pedal or tuner after gm800 s output work to mute it? Then you could play guitar sounds

Im just curious will the GM800 work like the Boss OC-20G? That you can assign the Octaver to the 5th & 6th strings? Cool busking by the way!! 🤘🤘
@GearSounds Жыл бұрын
I don't remember seeing an octave up as an effect you could use in the software when I looked at it. The number of effects for the GM 800 is severely limited when compared to the SY1000. What you are talking about doing could be done with the SYA 1000 although to be honest I'm not sure how well it would be done. A lot of the SY1000 effects borrow from the GT1000 which itself has digital limitations

Haha 😆 I immediately became nervous reading the first half of this comment thinking it was a genuinely valid critique of the video, I'm relieved you like the playing. That's an unnamed original improvisation by me, at least the first track. It can be worth it depending on what you do with it. It certainly wasn't making me any money, nor is my music that is synthesizer based very popular at all. I think more and more people want to hear guitar based music these days which is great. So now what I do with it is use it as a backing track, sort of like a keyboard.

@anonymous_friend The weather actually wasn't nice and was very cloudy and gloomy which is why I was playing the way that I was. That being said I do not differentiate between playing for pleasure versus entertaining a crowd. I make enough money elsewhere that I don't need to change how I play. That being said I don't think I've ever played for a crowd in my entire life nor have I ever written a song or performed a cover. So I'm really not even a musician in the traditional sense lol
