I don’t think people want a GM Connected mode as much as they say they do. I run a GM Connected league through HUT. It’s basically exactly like the mode would be, but it’s super difficult to find people to join. For the most part I think it’s just another thing for people to complain about.

@@dannymoxley-towns8541 there are definitely people that want it. That’s why I run my league. But I put hours and hours of work in to it every week so everyone else just has to buy 20 base cards and play 3 games a week, but it takes a long time to even get 20 people interested enough to join. I track stats, standings, do all of the trade processing, etc. It’s the closest thing I can make to an authentic experience and since it’s not going to be in the game for at least another year, and even then when I reach out to people they aren’t interested. I can appreciate you wanting it in the game, I just mean the majority of people who complain about it don’t bite when something pretty comparable is offered to them.

@@dannymoxley-towns8541 I can appreciate that you want to play. I run my league for that reason. We’re not going to get it for at least another year, so that’s why I keep it going. I make it as close to the mode as possible. People just need to buy 20 base cards and play a few games a week. Even then it’s hard to find even 20 people to join, let alone 32. There are absolutely people who want it, and it would make my life a million times easier since I wouldn’t have to spend hours a week doing all all of the stat tracking, standings, and trade processing myself. I just mean the majority of people who complain about it not being in the game just want to complain. They don’t have interest when the best substitute available is presented to them.

They won't do online franchise because that's too realistic. Too many people will ditch hut which is the money maker. If you did gm connected you could release a game every 2 years or so

@KevinEng44 After making this video and answering comments I did my own research Nobody plays HUT as it is without gm connected - it's not the same as Madden or Fifa where everyone plays the mode and spends money on it According to the games trophies, less than 4% of all players log into HUT 7 times through the entire year This is why HUT hasn't had any changes in 5 years (besides renaming things like moments an objectives) and keep removing things to split the player base less

I would buy PC version if there was one since i cant play on ps4 anymore and i have pretty decent PC. (but i totally get why its not coming on PC) Im not going to buy new console just to play new NHL. Some years i have been done with the game well before christmas, so i can't justify the investment to myself if NHL25 is garbage. 600€ investment just to play one game is fkn absurd to me.

I have been playing NHL 24 via Ultimate through the cloud base section of the Pass! Visual Integrity is not great, Playability is a hit or miss. 5/10 Overall experience for me. Since I don;t have a console it suffices for sure. But missing out on NHL 25 is gonna suck a bit. It does appear it will be available through EA PLAY but unclear if itll be available on drop day after the Early Access for Pre Orders is over!

It’s crazy that they say madden and FIFA both have a big enough fan base to support PC play, on steam Ea Fc 24 highest player count was 100k, and madden is 4000!!!!! They’re telling us that madden warrants it and is pulling 4000 players

Still trying to process how presentation did not get a deep dive trailer… there wasn’t even a deep dive blog explaining the “features” more in depth and potential telling us more presentation info… the website says September 13th for presentation which is tomorrow so who knows at this point

That never ending EA mantra about PC version of NHL and calling hockey a niche sport is a complete and total BS. Of course current community is small, you have not released the game for it for 15 years. It’s also silly to think that in 2024 majority of players are actually care about forums, reddits or surveys, they just want to play the game. And those, who could share their support of PC port will not do that simply because they are tired of asking and have no hope. EA is not lazy, EA is dumb. I know lots of people who buy FIFA/EA FC on PC every single year, and they would love to play hockey game to death, but they don’t buy it specifically because there is no PC release. And EA is scared to even try to find out if they have a community and how big it is in reality. There are markets where hockey is huge, and unlike American Football, it’s a major international sport. I can bet, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Czechia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Germany and some other countries have as many hockey fans as soccer fans, they are mostly the same people. And you can have them all. But you would never know if you never try. Release the game on Steam at least once, make it available everywhere, and just see what happens. Seriously, it’s time.

Madden 24 had a peak of 9k players on Steam If nobody is buying Madden on Steam - which sells 10x the amount of copies than NHL on console, NHL will be DOA

@@ThrashHky your statement is very questionable at best. Comparison to Madden is questionable as well. You are thinking like a console player. PC gaming community is much bigger and, let's be honest, for many reasons the difference between sizes of PC and consoles communities will only grow, and probably grow fast. PC gamers mostly don't own (and not going to just for one or two games) and quite frankly don't care about consoles and what happen on consoles. So, again: a) Madden stats are inconsequential, especially considering that American football doesn't really means much outside of US and Canada. It's not baseball or basketball after all; b) Majority of soccer fans in continental Europe and Russia are hockey fans as well. How many players had EA FC on steam? I know for sure, many PC hockey fans are still playing NHL 09; c) before the release of a game on steam, any assumptions or forecasts regarding sales are nothing more but speculations. That game has a chance to be successful. But until EA do something, they will only have guesses and lame excuses; d) also, EA says that making NHL PC port is expensive. Let's get it straight - spending 8 years and 200 millions on Concord just to shut the game down less than 2 weeks after release is expensive. Making NHL PC port at least once is not so much. (Yeah, I know that those games are made by different companies).

For reference, other sports games on steam: EAFC 24 peaked around 100k NBA 2k24 Peaked at 30k PGA Tour Peaked at 1k F1 Peaked at 8k WWE peaked at 8k (MLB The Show does not have a PC version) All of these games outsold NHL on console Porting, hiring, licensing, maintaining etc would cost in the millions just for the PC version (ofcourse we dont have an exact number) To break even it would have to sell tens of thousands of copies and there's just no guarantee that's going to happen - especially since the game is unplayable online in a lot of parts of the world right now So until they get that figured out, I dont see a way that it can be sustainable For the record, I think the game being on PC would be a positive in general If there's a way they can do it without losing money, they absolutely should - but for a franchise that's already struggling and has a small budget (compared to other sports titles) adding more costs to it makes zero sense imo

HUT doesn't make the money from packs like Fifa and Madden do According to PlayStation Trophies, only 3% of people that played NHL 24 even logged into HUT 7 times in the entire year - let alone bought packs or played games HUT isn't the most popular mode like ultimate team is in Fifa and Madden, not even close Madden on Steam had a peak of only 9k players for Madden 24 - NHL would need to outsell Madden on PC to break even It'll never happen

2:46 this just pisses me off. there's a lot of us NHL players who only have a console to play NHL. Otherwise we'd play it on PC. I don't buy that it's a huge resource investment nowadays as modern consoles are literally the same chips as in modern PC hardware. So to me that's pure bs. NHL used to be on PC. I played my first NHL on Windows 98 and Windows 2000 professional with a CD copy of NHL 99. Suddenly they stopped releasing the game to PC. I think the last one was NHL 07 if I’m not mistaken. I was too young at the time to understand why they did that. I know it was a different studio and different people in charge but still, if you know why they pulled the plug on the PC version originally, I'm curious to know.

@@ThrashHky yeah okay I knew that part which is obvious. They didn't sell enough copies. I get that. It's a bit bizarre that every other sports game exists on steam but not NHL. I think since it's been almost 20 years now since they pulled the plug, a lot of things have changed and I can see a return to PC in the future but who knows. Tbh if I look at myself now, I'd still stay on Xbox mostly because I've moved away from Windows and use Linux on my PC instead which would mean that a PC port would likely not be available to me regardless. It is what it is I guess. in an ideal world I’d want to see someone else step up and compete with EA and make a game for hockey fans on PC but I don't see that as a realistic option. Hopefully they can focus on making a good game and improve on things that are severely lacking in every aspect. Improving game play like we get this year is a step in the right direction (assuming the implementation is good) but there's a lot of "features" that are either missing or outright great ideas but very poor implementation and I think they know it, but I guess it takes time to remedy all the problems coding-wise.

@@RedhawksReport So super quickly lets do some math (with random numbers since we dont know the actual numbers) Let's say it costs 3 million to port the game, keep it maintained, have the licenses and playable on all windows versions etc (plus steam takes 30% of all sales) If on average the game is $100 per sale, thats 30k copies that would need to be sold on PC to break even Madden 24 peaked at 9400 players on steam (according to Steamcharts)

I don't think that FIFA (now called EAFC) and Madden are fair comparisons. but i get your point! :) Edit: i looked at steam charts and tbf all sports games on steam (except for FC) are doing low numbers so that explains a lot. Madden 25 - 1,905.3 NBA 2K24 - 8,755.8 The outlier is FC 24 at 38,376.0 These numbers are 30 days average

no nhl on pc is such an L. the only reason i don’t play is because my xbox runs terribly and crashes every 5 mins on certain games with nhl being one of them. would like to play it but literally cant on pc😒

You can try 24 on PC and see if it works better for you - if its laggy in the app people have said to play using the browser instead and itll be better
