I think what gets lost sometimes on people if you haven’t played hockey. Is when a team scores on you to tie in the last minute how deflated you are and how strong momentum swings in an instant.

I played hockey in the US Before The Miracle on Ice....played Mite League, High School Men's Leagues and US College Div II, and played until I was 43..the one Rule, across every team, and League......NO GOALS ALLOWED IN LAST TWO MINUTES IN ANY PERIOD. Apparently even NHL Pros forget this Lesson.

on the tying goal there is an uncalled interference penalty on the Blackhawks which would have disallowed the goal; on the winning goal you have an interference with the goaltender penalty not called on the goal scorer two of my favorite teams along with the Canadians and Sabers

That is... if you jump through the hoops that is finding a way to watch every game depending on which channel/app/market you're in/using. That's the only problem. I just rewatched the game yesterday. I remember every second of excitement. Rask was becoming even harder to score on, I felt hopeless. 2012 was very rough, Hossa got smoked we wanted revenge on the coyotes in 2013. Sadly, it never happened, but winning the cup was even better.

I remember well how the Coyotes played the Hawks for the first time in 2013, everyone knew that someone was going to drop the mitts with the infamous Raffi Torres. Sure enough, Jamal Mayers answered the bell and gave the Arizona bad-boy/goon a good beat down. Revenge? Nah, the Kings took care of that when they knocked out the Coyotes in the conference final. So long, Shane Doan and his chance for a cup! So cut to 2015 and what does center Antone Vermette do? He gets traded to Chicago at the deadline, and plays a big part in winning the cup that playoff, only to find himself back in Arizona again next season. You can almost hear the roar of Doan's frustration from Arizona to Chicago! Vermette was a heck of a player; too bad he couldn't stick around. Rask was good, but Corey Crawford was better. Not many folks give him the respect he deserves, but all the guy did was win, and beat the best goalies in the game while doing it. Price, Rask, Quick, Luongo, Schneider, etc. you name 'em he beat 'em come playoff time. Perfect? No, but no one was better when the game was on the line.

Thanks for writing what you did about Crawford and Seabrook. Granted, I am biased since I am a lifelong Hawks fan, but it is my belief that both of them deserve a slot in the Hall of Fame. The lack of individual honors is maybe a problem, but today's league is so large that I am not sure that it is fair to use that criterion any longer. Further, the entirety of the "Magnificent Seven" deserve entry - i.e., Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa (already in the HHOF), Patrick Sharp, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, and Niklas Hjalmarsson, plus Corey Crawford and Coach Q. Seabrook was just money when the stakes were high. He always seemed to play his best when the chips were down. And his size, physicality and shot from the point made him potent on special teams, whether on the kill or power play. And for a good long stretch, he and Duncs were the best D-pair in the NHL. Hammer was, like Seabs, another heart-and-soul player who would bleed for you without complaint. That guy blocked so many shots the trainers must have gotten sick of looking at him! Coach Q. hit the roof when that moron Stan Bowman traded him to AZ... and due respects to Connor Murphy, rightly so. I am of the belief that the NHL needs an award to recognize the outstanding defensive defenseman, and it would be awarded to players like Hammer. And while we're at it, let's also create an outstanding defensive forward award for wingers/non-centers, and it would be awarded to guys like Marian Hossa. But I digress....

I am trying to be philosophical about Kane in a winged wheel jersey: We don't win those three championships without Marian Hossa, who was once on the Red Wings. He's the guy who taught the younger players how to play a 200-foot game and how to leave it all out on the ice every game. I'd love to see Detroit do some damage this season. You guys have some nice pieces on the roster, maybe you can get into the big post-season dance. Kaner loves playing, but he loves winning, too - and he wouldn't be there if he didn't see something special happening. The scuttlebutt is that Vlad Tarasenko signed there because of Kane, too. And Alex DeBrincat played well with Kane for several seasons, too; they know one another well. Put them with a good center and some nice things will happen.

As an equal parts Habs and Hawks fan... This was probably the best 17 seconds (well, minute or so including play stoppage) of my life. Seeing my team win the Stanley Cup in such a dramatic manner, AND seeing the Bruins collapse at the same time, topped off by Rask whom I despised more than any goalie in the league, having a breakdown in a key playoff game... Simply can't be beat.

@Fouetzky - I don't know how old you are, but I am an old guy now, and remember well watching the Habs beat the Blackhawks at the old stadium in game seven back in 1973, and before that, in 1971. I am a Habs fan, too, though, probably because of all of those years being spoiled watching the dynasty-era teams of the 1970s. They were so good, you couldn't help but be drawn to watching them. The saying back then went that the only real competition for those great Habs teams was in a split-squad game! That would be the record-setting 1976-1977 team. But yeah, those members of the Habs teams were so loaded down with hardware - cup rings, trophies, etc. - it is a miracle those guys could move, let alone skate! BTW, Ken Dryden's book "The Game" is one of the best insider accounts of NHL life ever written. He of course being the elite netminder of many of those great teams. Not many guys get to win playoff MVP one post-season, and then win "Rookie of the Year" the next! As you can imagine, as a longtime Hawks fan, it was a golden era during the three-cups era. My only regret is that my late father wasn't there with us to enjoy and celebrate with us. He took me to a lot of games at the old Chicago Stadium where we saw the Hulls, Bobby and Dennis, Stan Mikita, Tony Esposito, and all of the rest of the players of that era. That place was loud! Of course, the UC - the current home of the Hawks - is also loud, too but in a different way. In the Stadium, you were right on top of the ice surface; a much more intimate environment than the expansiveness of the United Center.

Bruins have a weird history of doing well in the playoffs and then falling at the end. I think we've lost twice as many SC Finals as we've won, and in my lifetime I saw them win once and come close but lose two other times so that checks out. I gotta say though, watching this and seeing all these players, the person I miss most is Doc. He is the single best play by play commentator in any sport as far as I feel. He made me love playoff hockey.

I'm a Chicago Blackhawks fan, and like so many others, I went nuts when the Hawks mounted their historic seventeen-second comeback to win the series at TD Garden. But a day or two later, I took the trouble to visit the Bruins website and post something in their chatroom to the effect of it was a shame that both teams could not have won the series. Boston lost by a razor-thin margin, and to a team later ranked by some NHL observers as the best of the three championship teams of the three-peat 2010-2015. Claude Julian, the coach at that time, was one of the best in the game, but also respected and liked as one of the best people in the game. A gentleman in every sense of the word, and a true class act, in victory or defeat. The Bruins played the game like it is supposed to be played. Their top players set an example for any player to emulate. Elite two-way center Patrice Bergeron played with broken ribs and a punctured lung, yet no one heard a peep of complaint from the guy. Talk about tough! The Hawks turn-on-a-dime turnaround was engineered by two clutch players whose regular seasons sometimes fell short of expectations, but that is only because they were waiting for the post-season to shine. I'm talking about Brian Bickell and Dave Bolland. If seasons were composed of playoff games only, those two would be Hall of Famers... because they sure put on their "Superman" costumes come SC Playoff time. Patrick Kane won the Conn Smythe Trophy that season as playoff MVP, but later said that Corey Crawford could just as easily have been chosen. What does 'Crow have to do to earn some respect - cure cancer or something? The guy has ice-water in his veins. No matter who he faced, no matter how tough the opposition or their goalie, he faced 'em down. And the bigger the stage, the better he performed. So many heroes for the red-black-and-white in that epic series.... As an aside, when the elite teams of the last quarter century are considered, I hope Boston wins some support. The Blackhawks were considered the team of the decade 2010-2020, but Boston was right there with them and a few other teams. The Hawks won three cups in six seasons, but haven't been a contender since then, whereas the Bruins have made the final since then - losing to St. Louis in 2019. They have appeared in the Final three times since 2001: They won in 2011 against Vancouver, and lost against Chicago in 2013 and against St. Louis in 2019. They have been a contender most of that time. It's a real horse race when you consider that Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh both won back-to-back championships since 2015, something that the renowned Hawks teams of the 2009-2015 era did not do. LA won it twice, albeit not back-to-back and their triumph over the Hawks in game seven of the WCF stands as one of the finest playoff games ever broadcast when it comes to compelling drama hockey-style. Coach Joel Quenneville said even in defeat that it had been a privilege to take part in such a memorable game, calling it one of the best he'd ever seen. Hawks may win best overall for 2010-2020 but the Kings, Bruins, Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh are right there. And who knows if TB is done or not? Pittsburgh have any magic left in their equipment bags? As a lifelong dedicated Bruins fan, this was the most devastating game I ever had to watch. It was enough to send a lot of us into a rage. We had followed this team night in and out all year long. We had learned to love this group of guys as household names. We experienced the true pain of a heartbreak that night. It was one thing if we were just going to lose, but we blew it. I think the only reason some of us remained sane, was because we had actually won a Stanley Cup two years prior. Hats off to the 2013 Chicago Blackhawks.

I remember telling my wife that it was a shame that the Bruins and Hawks couldn't somehow share the championship that year, because that's the kind of respect I had for that team and its players and coaches. The Bruins played the game the right way, and they left it all out on the ice. There's no shame or dishonor in defeat if you do that, and that is what the Bruins did. Patrice Bergeron played with broken ribs and a punctured lung. He was running a real risk; that is dangerous medically-speaking, but he got away with it. Talk about tough! How can you not respect a team that does things like that? It is never easy watching a beloved team lose, but that 2013 team is ranked by some hockey historians as one of the best ever. It is a toss-up which of the three-peat teams was the best, but many pick the 2013 squad. I wanted you guys to beat St. Louis in 2019 in the final, but it was not to be. Know who reminded me of Bergeron in tha series? Ryan O'Reilly, the eventual MVP. He played one heck of a final. He looked like Toews and Bergeron out there, doing the things he did and leading the way he did.
