The title of the video should be, "How to destroy the Pirc when my opponent decide to play an inferior opening sideline". Which may apply to any opening, not just the Pirc defense.

I was about to make the same comment but it looks like lots of others have said it - pirc is way more dangerous when black is aggressive and fights back into the centre, that is the sort of line I am much more interested in beating then someone who just sits back and waits to die.

I was surprised in a sense, I thought the video was about the Byrne variation and black playing a losing line trading queens, but when I saw the classical...wow. Why would black go all-out on the queenside when his pieces are not properly developed and white haven't even castled there?

Outstanding lesson! I never knew how to play against this passive system.

Very useful ideas, I just lost against the Pirc, had no idea what the opening was.

Erm, I play pirc however even not being a gm that opponent is not playing it right. *Edit* Decided to do engine analysis as well, black was fine after C7 and actually white made a slight inaccuracy playing A4, what he should of played that anyone who plays the Pirc/Indian plays is ND7.

Pirc is weak why the hell lock up you're own peaces? A4 is a move often played it is a good move. Space advantage and blocking black is a good strategy. If you want to play against e4/d4 and you are a passive player i think a grundfeld/french suits you better. I like to play sicillian dragon. Sometimes o'kelly. Depends.

@@nicovanderwilt7502 A4 can be a good move. In the position featured however it is a inaccuracy. Meaning it is not a good move here. The Pirc/Indian is a great opener, its for tactical play, and if playing it properly you get positions where both players have plenty of attacking ideas. Blocking black could be a good strat, my point however here is black wasn't playing this game correctly. I mainly played this opener, and from my own experience know for a fact that that is not how you play it. We always eventually play ND7 so we can then play C or E pawn breaks and empower our bishops while also opening space. So these weak pawn moves from black that actually do lock his position down don't make sense and leads me to believe he doesn't know what he is doing. H3 from white is a well known move, a good one, however black doesn't respond correctly at all.

Apparently it’s pronounced Peerts. After Vasja Pirc. Is this one of those occasions in the English speaking world where people know the common pronunciation is wrong but carry on regardless? Anyway I better watch the game...

I hate it that people are trying to make the pirc great with their video's online. Just like you say it is passive and you lock up the peaces. In my eyes it is a weak opening.

How is Kings Indian Defense different from Pirc conceptually
@Detherocable
@Detherocable 6 жыл бұрын
Quite similar, actually. Just that White doesn't tend to have the time to play c4, so the bishop on f1 has a bit more potential on say, c4 or b5.

Detherocable ya that quite makes sense... But honestly speaking I never able to play pirc defense or kings indian because it's too passive

Man I am a hack but a master says he plays the Pirc as black it’s his main system and he does it because he says it’s good for anything white throws at it. He says he likes how there is not much theory. But should I take from this that that’s him this guy does not agree l just understand every opening has its adherents and detractors and just play what YOU feel COMFORTABLE with??? This all confuses me at time particularly when higher titles players swear by it and say that’s all you need.
