I love playing the pirc and facing this as black because if you play correctly, you crush white. You let them take your queen. You take back with the king and lose castling rights but block the rook check with the light squared bishop and believe it or not, it's all theory and if you play correctly, You're perfectly fine
@rohungupta84353 жыл бұрын
Where do you let white take the queen?

Excellent comment. NM Robert Ramirez covers this and other white counterattacks in great detail. Played with understanding and authority, the Pirc is a formidable opening for black. Personally, I love it.
@marianorivera32722 жыл бұрын
@@lonewolf5238 it’s an incredibly fun opening but it’s not for beginners unless you are willing to spend a lot of time studying. White can take a lot of paths naturally and you need to be prepared or you’ll lose control of the center and get crushed. I picked it up as a beginner and I probably would be higher rated if I spend the same time studying another opening. Wouldn’t go back though.

here to teach how to counter the trap, for the first one, if they bishop attacks the knight to damage the pawn structure, well simpily put your other knight on d7 and prepare for a pawn push, if opponent takes the knight you take back with the other knight and if not then push the pawn to e5 creating an attack, and now you can do the other ones by yourself, i am too lazy
@tobias441110 ай бұрын
As a Byrne player, I would never take knight with bishop in that line. Why should I give up my bishop pair if not have to?? Just keep developing, it goes: 5.Nf3 h6 6.Be3 e5 7.h3 c6 8.a4 Qe7 9.Qd2 a6 10.a5 exd 11.Qxd and white is already slightly better. By the way, line with Nbd7 is rare, only played 3% of games and also white has a higher winrate than black.

@charlie83449 ай бұрын
When black plays d6, it's no longer an Italian or scotch. Let's say e4 e5 Nf3 Nc6 Bc5 is Italian so if the game went e4 d6 Nf3 Nf6 Nc3 that's no longer an Italian and Black will not let you play an Italian. These two openings need black to play e5

Yes, but they need to justify bombastic title somehow. Pirc is far from refuted, but it is not as straightforward as some other defenses, so people often come up with these "refuted' thingies.

Black's best move in the Byrne Variation is to fianchetto early. Then you decide if you want to go c6 and attack or castle and buckle down. My point is that fianchetto is best move in this specific variation unlike f3 or Be3 variations

If you just followed, it is clear that it's black turn to move. He also explained that Na6 is not helpful and Kd8 is much worse. So, what could black best do here? Most probably he would go f6 so that if white decides Nxc7+, he can simply go Kf7. If Nxa8, then black can capture white's dark bishop. There is no checkmate in there.

5:24 what if black plays e6 attacking the knight?
@kuyadong67913 жыл бұрын
Black's dark bishop is under attack. If he plays e6, then white will go Nxe5. If black recaptures, that is a blunder because there is Nxc7+, goodbye rook queen-side. So, after e6 by black and white's Nxe5. Black will be forced to do exd5. And the white goes Rxd5. After all these moves, white has the great advantage since his bishops are complete. A pair of bishop is much better than a knight because the former can mate while the latter cannot.

@mikhailvarkovsky41502 жыл бұрын
+1700 here. 1200-1300 can be pretty tough opponents because they reached that ELO by memorizing openings and a couple of traps/gambits. You defeat these kind of players in middlegame/endgame. On the other hand, if they didn't study much theory these kind of players have a lot of talent and imagination, but regrettably they eventually blunder one or two times despite their strength (usually trying some fancy combination/sacrifice which may not work), so they never go above 1300. But they're still a force to be reckoned with

@PrimoDirt There are many variations/lines in the Pirc which can be played using white. That's why the video link I posted by Remote Chess Academy is titled "the best defense against E4 and D4." So you're asking a question that's impossible to answer. I suggest you go to NM Robert Ramirez page. He's one of a number who attempt to teach the Pirc. I believe he has over 60 + videos on the Pirc. He also has an excellent course on Chessable. If you ever learn to play the Pirc, you will find only 96% of chess players will know the opening. The RCA video I posted barely scratches the variations I mentioned.
