Another thing you can do, if you dont feel like curating a list for all the NPCs you have is to have 3-4 pre generated "gear lists" on a table and roll a d-4 or something to determine what, if any, gear a person has on them. Im going to start doing this to try and make my games seem more planned, spontaneous, and move faster.

Very cool, pretty useful for my current campaign. I need to weave all of my players' backstories together, and gear might be just the way to do it.
