Those sets also work with the Gearwrench pass thru ratchet. I use the locking flex head Gearwrench ratchet with these It’s amazing in tight spots.

yes 11mm drive seems to be a standard thankfully.

GEARWRENCH 1/4" Drive Pass-Thru XL Locking Flex Head Ratchet, 72 Tooth, 6-1/2" - 891400 - Is the the Ratchet you guys are talking about? I have low profile ratchet and Sockets from GM. Just wondering if the Sockets will fit in the Gearwrench above. Thanks!

I saw your review and ran over to Oriellys and bought them. I definitely needed them when I took off my oil pan. None of my other sockets were small enough. Snap on has a very similar set for over $250. I was planning to buy just the 10mm from Snap on for $25 or so. I needed the 8 mm for my oil pan. $13 for just the metric set, and $16 for the ratchet. Thanks for sharing, I wouldn't have known about them if it wasn't for this.

That is awesome to hear, that was a huge savings I can't believe it was near one-tenth the cost of a Snap-On set.
@mattblackman92116 жыл бұрын
1/10 the the cost of snap on is funny. The ironic thing is don't listen to the hype of snap on superiority. Yes snapon is top notch, but this power torque set is made in tawain. Tawain makes great stuff and better quality control than China .

I only own a strip of the sockets and they turned out to be an essential for doing under dash work with GM and Chrysler where you run into practically every clearance issue you could possibly imagine. Curious to how well the pass through ratchet locks on to the sockets compared to a ratcheting wrench (which doesn't lock on at all).

The little ratchet has a little spring clip inside of the fits into the little groove on the sockets and it holds okay but not like a Snap-On

Just bought these today, thank you! I can find the 3/8 pass through but not the MM sockets for them! Any ideas?

Hi Catus Maximus, great review. Would you please share a link of where to buy it on line. I am in Sydney Australia and I could not find the exact same one as in your video. Thanks

Hell yea! I didn't really know about pass thru sockets till I saw the set at harbor freight and I love em! I use a gear wrench 3/4 and just the sockets but I'm always reaching for them! I'll have to check those out

Pass-through sockets are handy

With ratcheting end wrenches so common these days, are pass through ratchets even necessary? I'm trying to think of a situation where a ratcheting end wrench wouldn't be able to do what the pass through does.

when the bolt is recessed, but also in a tight space

Catus could you please please please do a review of the mountain brand one in this video also including the oreillys super shallow sockets, I really want to get both, I'm going for the thinnest 1/4 setup possible

Follow up: I bought a mountain ratchet and already had the o'Reilly sockets, it doesnt really work. They fit but not nicely. I ended up getting a gear wrench 1/4in locking swivel head passthrough socket set for $40 at napa on sale Its 100% worth it!!!!

I have that set, got it on a whim I guess as I’ve got plenty of 1/4” sets. The ratchet truthfully ain’t bad but with the square drive, there isn’t much that’ll pass through above a 3/8 or 10mm socket. It makes a pretty nice 7/16 or 11mm 12 point all by itself.

They are definitely great for the price my only disappointment is the ratchet switch is made from plastic. Dropped it on the switch and broke right off luckily have life time warranty. Got warranty next day. I like to use the sockets facing the switch side so the back is flush

I got hears sockets based on this review. But the chrome is flaking on the inside from just putting them on a ratchet. I will use them on my GW 1/4” ratchet and if necessary on a GW ratcheting wrench to get lower profile.

That looks great for getting into real tight places

It is indeed good at getting into tight spaces

Dude I love your videos, I recently purchased a GM6151 power torque half inch ratchet, I got it because it looked beefy as hell, was wondering if you could review it

How much thicker is the Mountain ratchet than the GM?
@EXPENDABLE503 жыл бұрын
my ratchet broke, removed the socket and the ratcheting mechanism was stuck to the socket. A real bummer because i used this set to take off valve cover bolts on some of teh F250s that have no space on the passenger side. the sockets still work on my matco pass through ratchet
@CatusMaximus3 жыл бұрын
I had a feeling the ratchet with this was not the best of quality It kind of makes it nice that they sell the sockets by themselves
@dummkompf4 жыл бұрын
do you have the mountain set that comes in a small case with the ratchet and sockets? if so, I want to buy it from you! I've been looking for something exactly like that kit but it's been discontinued. The only other option I've found is called the facom RXpico, but the price is a bit ridiculous.

Hmmm, seems like lots of brands have good tools if you know how to choose. An some brands you ought to buy so you'd save money in the long run not using cheap shit that'll wear out. Reminding me to be wise about my choices in what I buy so I can be as cheap as possible while still getting what I need
@CatusMaximus6 жыл бұрын
Yes you make a very good statement. You just learn to have a knife or what's a Quality Tool & since I buy mostly used you can get better quality for the same price are the sacrifices a little patina

Do a tool box tour of your hoard😀

I have a cheap grossly overloaded toolbox. A tour would be not effective because everything's in layers and to get any detail it would be a 10 hour video.

I like Power Torque stuff, it's served me well but I don't abuse my tools. I need these for tight spots.
