This is the recall for new Chevrolet and GMC trucks. This is NOT the tailgate recall! This is the new trailer brake power module recall. The reason for this is if a trailer has its own outside power generation outside of the truck charge line, like a generator or solar panels, this can cause an issue with the module and will disconnect the trailer brakes and put a notification on the dash. Just had mine replaced for the recall, simple and they contacted me very promptly and effectively communicated the issue in their letter and I had actually experienced the issue so I was happy to get it fixed!

That's great to hear! It's definitely an odd issue to have for a recall, but at least it's not a major issue and a quick fix

I had issues this summer with my 2024 2500hd when hooked up to our travel trailer (has solar). It was a bit scary to press the brake pedal and feel zero response from the trailer brakes. GM replaced the module for me before the recall went out. After that replacement, I never had the issue again when towing but I got it replaced again last week as part of the recall to be safe. Separate note, thanks for the maintenance videos you've made specific to this truck. I've learned a bunch from you, so thanks!

Ty. Perfect timing I’m leaving with my 2024 with my 5 th wheel camper in 3 hours. Much appreciated. Also I’m aware of the the rear differential not being filled to correct level. Thanks for this video

So I have a story to see if this is possible. We took our fifthwheel from Maine to Georgia in the spring and got this signal all the way. Now mind you we bought this 2024 in the late summer of 2023. We had a tow behind camper then and got the same signal. Now back to the story. I called everyone, googled and youtubed to see what could be wrong. Why was i getting a brake warning and a check wiring warning. I assumed it was the plug or something and someone said sounded like a ground problem. On our return to maine after a stop for fuel the trailer Ebrake deployed. Well not really, it melted in place. Then the whole wire harness started to melt to the battery. My husband jumped out of the truck turning off the battery, didnt stop it. He quickly got the tool box and cut the battery wire and it stopped the melting smoke show. Could this issue possibly have been the reason for this? Everyone says there is no reason for the camper itself to do this. Then along comes the recall in August. I believe it is too much of a coincidence especially since we did indeed get the brake warning ding ding. Thanks for your help

To me sounds like 2 different issues that happened at once. Yes, your original problem would have been related to the recall. But as far as the battery melting that's a separate thing. That was caused by a direct short to ground in that harness. The ebrake when pulled just completes a circuit to activate the brakes. That's it. Could it have failed internally and shorted to ground causing it to melt? Very possible. The truck is protected with fuses for everything and in no way carries enough energy to cause that problem, or is even tied into the system that way to cause it either. Good job on him for quickly getting the wires cut and preventing a full on fire!

Just had my trailer brake module replaced (part # 85073615 on my 24, It took about 2 hours. Also had the aux battery recall done a few months ago, just a software update.

Thanks for sharing! I feel bad for the poor guy who had to bring his truck in to fix that issue to initiate this recall. I can only imagine those conversations with the dealership

I've actually been hearing about a lot of issues with the 2024 chevy HDs (and GMCs). Whenever there's an even semi-thorough refresh you can expect this kind of stuff. Us auto consumers are basically beta testers these days. That's why I didn't get a 2023 super duty and waited till 2024. The 23s have been on the road a while and there's definitely been some issues. The 24s have also had a decent chunk of time to stew (people were taking delivery of 24s in September/October of last year, some even earlier) and there's been WAY less issues reported. I think Ford might have finally gotten their heads out of their asses and those production line stopping quality checks actually did something.

Yea I was hoping that since the 24s were still on the same t1 chassis from 2019 I wouldn't have as many gremlins and all I would have to worry about was dash and headlight change

Ours started doing this on a 9hr trip last November. Kept disconnecting and re-connecting. Super annoying because of the ding-dong noise it makes when it disconnects. Had the trailer brake module replaced before our first trip this season and it hasnt disconnected once.

Sometimes it’s the trailer break wires inside axels that get worn causing disconnect.Seen wires worn in 5 spots.

The dealer I went to claimed it took 4 weeks to get the part. "National back order"

LOL LOL LOL, I'm glad I don't have to deal with this out of price garbage, just get in my 84 C30 Sierra classic and go on down the road. I wouldn't give a hubcap off my truck for all the brand new trucks, sometimes I wonder where are these trucks will be in 40 years like mine is still going strong, and then I came to the conclusion they won't even Last 5 Years LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL.
