General Manager of the White Sox Rick Hahn talks with media after the team parts ways with Manager Ricky Renteria and Pitching Coach Don Cooper. Hahn also gives an update on the health of Garret Crochet and Nick Madrigal, as well as addressing the futures of Michael Kopech, Andrew Vaughn and other White Sox players.
The Chicago White Sox represent our city with Passion, Pride and Tradition, and are committed to a culture of winning baseball and continued community involvement beyond the diamond. With legends including Frank Thomas, Paul Konerko, Carlton Fisk and Harold Baines, to new stars including José Abreu, Tim Anderson, Yoán Moncada, Lucas Giolito and Eloy Jiménez, the White Sox have represented the fans and city of Chicago since 1900, first at Comiskey Park and now at Guaranteed Rate Field, while also providing for the community by providing annual support to hundreds of Chicago-based organizations through Chicago White Sox Charities.

@@joesaiditstrue The disastrous Tatis trade is what triggered the rebuild. If we have Tatis we very likely don’t have Giolito, Moncada, Dunning, Kopech. Also Robert has less of a chance to sign with us without Moncada. Tatis was a necessary evil to convince the organization to finally do a true rebuild and acquire young talent. And they have done it beautifully so far.

Ricky is a good guy but not the manager to take them to the next level. It’s unfortunate the same thing has happened twice to him and in the same city no less.

Yea, it sucks for him but again he did it to himself by being too strong headed and going with his gut too much on decisions. And not analytics. It seems like it cost him.

Time for this to happen, Rick is a great at DEVELOPMENT coach and that's it. For him to bring this team to a different level, that is not his strong suit in my opinion. Need a mngr who understands situational baseball, knows how, when, and at what time to use the pitching staff to its fullest ability. This team is built to win very soon, they should have no problem getting an experienced veteran who can provide that. Go Sox!! and thanks to Coop and Rick for thier devoted time and efforts from the past

Why does Paul Sullivan have to ask that question? The White Sox are trying to respect Renteria by not outright "firing" him... what good does asking that question even provide?

Ricky...great guy, has passion for the game even arguably a good coach. But not a good manager in the final stages of it which is where I feel bad for him because he really seemed to love his guys and instilled a great work ethic in his four years. Thank you Ricky for all you did for this young core!!

Steven Juris it’s going to be Hinch or Cora. You can’t say stuff like analytics will be essential and then hire LaRussa
@TheSjuris
@TheSjuris 4 жыл бұрын
Jacob Jaramillo Bob Nughtingale is the source of the LaRussa rumors. He is tight with the White Sox and the Reinsdorfs so there is that. Too late for revisionist history. Just because you foolishly hired a GM who foolishly fired a manager doesn’t mean you then bring the manager back nearly 40 years later. I personally hope it’s Hinch and not Cora. Hinch had little to do with the cheating and Cora is going to Boston anyways.

It's gonna be Hinch or Cora. I can see them going with Cora just because of the latin background but personally I would prefer Hinch as he would be coming from a highly technical background and could bring some new ideas to the Sox that they desperately need Sox are sitting in the catbird seat, lots of guys will wanna get this job
@msandonato23

if it’s gonna be either one of them, let’s hope it’s Hinch. Cora brought the cheating with him to Boston and all the reports pointed to him and Beltran as the big orchestrators of the whole thing.Speaking spanish with our latin players shouldn’t be enough to get him this job

Didn't the Sox have the best record in the AL until a late slump? Renteria was playing to a tough crowd.

if you watched every game, you saw the glaring weaknesses with Renteria. he had no clue how to manage a bullpen, he was using Cordero as a long relief guy multiple times a week, it was laughable

@@joesaiditstrue Maybe you're right, but somehow they made major strides this year. Eloy getting injured and Robert slumping really hurt. Crochet's forearm tightness may have cost them that last game - who knows? Let's hope they bring in someone better, as the post-Savard Hawks and post-Collins Bulls did.
@mick2spic

@@garybkatz Ricky made some comically bad decisions in the last couple weeks. I believe that was the main reason to fire him. And Hahn is more trying to save face for Ricky by saying it was mutual. Why brings back a guy like Ricky who has proven to make terrible decisions? May as well get someone else.

@@j.y.7958 Agree his playoff moves left something to be desired. The 3-10 finish was disappointing. Robert slumped terribly, flailing away at outside sliders. Anderson slumped a little too. Eloy got hurt. The pitching staff had a few injuries, as I recall. Better luck next season, which I think will be really fun for Sox fans.
