Really like Nick's actor. He's got enough stage presence I can believe he's the book narrator, but can easily see him being manipulated by Gatsby. The cast album release is on my calendar.

Because it is a generic Gatsby that, as much as I adore it and it is my guilty pleasure, I am aware that this musical is not a good adaptation, it is more of a Las Vegas show with generic pop and jazz than musical theater, the director even declared that he did not like it the book, Florence Welch's GATSBY is the Gatsby who understands the novel.

@@48162342 it depends mostly 5-8 a year basically it depends which show has stars I know from previous shows. Top 5 is tricky it’s Some Like It Hot , The Prom , Water for Elephants, The Outsiders and notebook I guess basically if a show was amazing to me I give it a slot in my top 5

Ah yes... because THAT was the biggest problem with the adaptation. The casting was great (i love Eva with all my heart and soul), but the overly romantic tone is clashing with what I read in the book. The message seems to have been lost in translation, a little. Also, your comment is giving racist. There are many other criticisms you could have gone for, and you focused on the least important.

미치겠네. 몰입이 안 됩니다. 개츠비가 아프리카계 미국인이었다는 설이 학계에서 주장되는 것은 알고 있었지만, 닉 캐러웨이가 아프리카계 흑인이라니...백인 주류사회의 위치에 있었던 데이지가 아시아계라는 것도 받아들이기가 쉽지 않습니다. 저는 '위대한 개츠비'를 좋아하는 한국인이고, 이 공연을 볼 기회가 있다면 꼭 볼 것입니다만 저러한 캐스팅은 참 낯설게 느껴집니다. 이러한 캐스팅 방식이 유행하는 것은 알고 있었지만요. 이것은 작품에 대한 새로운 해석이라기보다는 작품의 본질을 해치는 선택이 아닌가 싶습니다. 마음이 많이 복잡해집니다.

The reviews for this years show literally mean nothing. It's better if you just go see shows and make up your own opinion on a show. You also shouldn't be basing your opinion on a show from a review, everyone has a different perspective and art is very subjective.
