I like that she didn’t rely solely on her beauty and appearance, but always challenged herself with the most demanding roles and her philanthropy. She’s not just a stunning woman. I remember her in “Girl, Interrupted”. She nailed that role and she truly deserved the Oscar. Now, playing Maria Callas, one of the most famous and talented women to ever live, is a tough challenge because she’s not a fictional character, there’s a real comparison. However, she might have pulled it off.

When Nicol Kidman played Virginia Woolf, the director took care that her face, including her nose would be modified to personify Virginia's character accurately. However, in the case of La Callas, none of this happened. Maria had strong features, which mirrored her strong character. The trailer is letting us know that there has been a huge injustice done to Maria's representation in this movie. Otherwise, I esteem and appreciate Jolie's character and personality.

Because that is not their goal. Their goal is to get Maria Callas essence. If you cared that much you will know what was Pablo Larrain's vision and I don't know if you didn't realize but none of her leading ladies goes beyond to changing their face. The Met Opera singers were praising her portrayal of Callas so I think that was enough.

@@sweetbabynoa Well, opera fans are congratulating Angelina for her performance. Pablo's vision is to reincarnate the essence of Maria, not exclusively her appearance. Logically, a good performance is more important than putting on a fake nose. Joaquin Phoenix played Johnny Cash and didn't need makeup or false prosthetics to give an excellent performance and almost won an Oscar for that role.

What irks me is that Jolie and too many of her social media devotees are being purposely misleading about the degree of her actually "singing opera." She's being vague at best when the truth is 99.9% of the voice being heard is Maria Callas' from remastered recordings; and all this practice Jolie is vaguely referring to is actually her diligently trying to make the lip-syncing as realistic as possible through accurate facial and throat movement. The notion that she learned how to be a bona-fide opera singer in months--and certainly a voice as distinctive as Callas'--is silly if not absurd. I hope she performs because I love Callas ... but come on, folks, get off this false social media hype.

I mean she did go through 7 month of vocal training!! Of course we know she will never sing as great as Maria but she really did sing opera even if her voice was mixed with Marias. Angelina had to sing in front of more than 500 people with our music just her voice!!

@@prodigaldsd2003 It is literally public knowledge that her voice was mixed with Maria's, in some takes you can hear 90% of Angelina's voice, in others you can hear more of Maria's voice, although Angelina is a soprano it is impossible for an actor to match perfectly an opera singer voice, even so she had to train to be up to par, the same thing that Joaquin Phoenix did when he played Johnny Cash in 2006 without being a singer and he did it great, apart from singing, the really important thing is to be able to reincarnate the essence of the character and give a good performance, it is public knowledge, it is not about 'hype' i think you missed the point

It makes me sad that she keeps bringing her kids to these public events while the kids aren't talking to their dad. I just wish that the parent that had the kids would encourage their kids to have a relationship with the other parent. It hurts the kids that they don't have a relationship with both parents. I've seen this so many times where the man is villanized by the woman and the kids are used to hurt the man. Even if the man isn't the perfect parent, the kids really do need him in their life. They may have hurt feelings or feel protective of their mom, but they need both parents to heal. It is hard to grow up missing the one parent and not have it impact your self worth and view of the world.

@@karenjanicehollick1545 It's not just two versions, all the witness versions confirmed that Pitt committed domestic violence against Angelina and his own minor children while drunk and he himself admitted his addiction to alcohol and that alcohol transformed him for 'worst', in the trial for custody of the children (trial which Brad lost) all the witnesses testified against him (including the pilots of the plane and his children) and he himself could not deny the abuse, according to court documents (which you obviously have not read) subsequent visits to his children were supervised 100% by child services, since they could not leave their children alone with him so that he would not assault them again, but these things do not come out in the press (coincidentally he hired the former press team of his buddy Harvey Weinstein who handle much of the entertainment press) the real information is in the court documents and the FBI reports
