A question. My 9 month old does not eat food at all. All he wants is milk. He has lost a great amount of weight. I forced fed him a week ago. So when he was crying and opened his mouth I put the food in small amounts in his mouth. That was the very first time (yes indeed in nine months) that he ate solid food. I really hated ding it, so I did not do it ever since. Now his eating habits are as bad as it already was. He never eats food. What should I do, force feed him like I did or something else? we are rying to mak him eat for 3 months straight without any result we tried everything.

I'm dealing with the same exact thing with my 9 months old. 3 months into feeding him solids and he's ate nothing. I'm so frustrated and sad. I've been talking him to occupational therapy but it has made no difference 😭

@@nicolefarnoush9614 Hi! I have worked with babies, toddlers and preschoolers for 10 years and I want you to know that it is so common for young children to be difficult to feed. Here are the main points that you need to know: 1. Don't worry about the possibility of your child starving to death. He won't let that happen. 2. Relax about meal scheduling at this point in time and act like it means nothing to you wether he eats or not but do offer food frequently throughout the day. Usually young children are only refusing to eat because it makes them feel powerful to upset you with it. They are learning how they can influence people's emotions and how to decide for themselves what they want. The other reason is usually stress by being watched while eating. Some kids and even some adults are uncomfortable being stared at while they eat! On rare occasions it could be medical malfunction. 3. Stop trying to spoon feed him! He wants to feed himself and will do it if you leave him alone about it. He might like to use his hands and that is fine! Utensil practice can come later when he is more relaxed about eating. He won't be 15 years old still refusing utensils! 4. Stop the pouches and jar food. That stuff is nasty. Give him what you eat and don't cut it very small. He will take bites on his own and learn how much to put in his mouth to prevent choking. Many little ones don't appreciate their food being cut into tiny pieces. As long as it is not a circle shape, he can bite on it to break it up safety. 5. Don't sit in front of him while he eats. It stresses him out and stress kills the appetite! Instead, sit nearby and make yourself look busy. Better yet, eat something while you are supervising his meal. He will surprise you by taking bites of his food when he thinks you are not looking! 6. Ask him if he is done when he stops eating by removing the food and offering it one last time. If he doesn't reach for it, put him down. Repeat these tips every day for two weeks and eventually, he will become a better eater and his weight will begin to pick up. Remember to show no negative emotion around meal time and not to stress him about feeding. If there is no improvement after two weeks of consistently following these tips, it is time to ask his pediatrician about testing to see if he has any dietary sensitivity or if he may need early intervention for sensory processing. The earlier you get help the better for him! Getting help does not mean you failed in any way, it actually means you care! Hope this helps!

If it's getting to the point where your kiddo is losing weight, you should talk to your kiddos pediatrician about it. My kid wasn't losing weight but he wasn't gaining weight and he wasn't growing in height either because of being picky. He's my first and I didn't know how to help that. Our pediatrician set up appointments for us to meet with a dietician and nutritionist and put our son into eating therapy. He's gained almost two pounds now and he grew a little taller! Being a Mom is really hard and we don't always know what we're doing so never be afraid to ask the pediatrician for help! If you have a good pediatrician they will listen and be understanding. If they brush you off, find a new pediatrician asap!

One way of avoiding food fussiness is for the nursing mother to herself eat as widely as possible throughout the nursing period, especially of those foods most commonly disliked by youngsters. This flavors the mother's milk slightly, and helps to imprint the baby's tastes regarding foods that are acceptable food sources. It is one of the advantages of being mammals. Your kids will never dislike ... cooked spinach, broccoli, etc.

Doesn't work like that. Parents are eating a lot of that crap anyway. Babies in general take after meat and animal fat really well because it has everything they need and is what we would have feed them primarily for ultimate health. So that's what we *should* feed them. It's not some factory concoction with fake nutrients. It shouldn't be as difficult to feed them as we are making it because we insist on feeding them leaves, grains and stalks, things almost entirely devoid of nutrition for humans, particularly infants. Pre-mastication, or pre-chewing the food for the baby, is also much healthier providing immune-benefits similar to that of breast-feeding. So mothers who can't breast feed could stand to benefit their baby a lot by pre-chewing meat for the baby to eat. It also exposes the child to the EBV virus early before 2 yrs old which helps prevent them from developing certain allergens and autoimmune diseases(Multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis and lupus) later in life. This has been the way for millions of years before all this so-called "Baby food" that is not real food(Hence the fortification with nutrients by law). But these days it's looked down upon in the western world with their ill-placed germaphobia. Pre-mastication is extremely common in the animal kingdom and for humans a complete necessity for millions of years. Baby food is processed down in a way to replicate how we would have fed them by pre-chewing it, and conditioning them for nutritionally devoid breakfast cereals as they get older. Yeah, if you spend months trying to feed your baby this crap they're going to eventually eat it because that's all there is, and that's essentially their answer to "fussy" eating, it doesn't mean it's a victory. Your baby will suffer for it.

Why do we feed our babies canned processed chemically adulterated with preservatives gross banana flavored ,peach flavored, ,and other flavored baby food goop when we could feed them freshly mashed bananas pears apples etc.. no adult would dare eat that canned baby food it's gross..yet we feed it to our babies and watch them eat it like dog chow. Feed your baby fresh foods and not processed unhealthy chemicals that you wouldn't dare put in your mouth..and we wonder why some kids are unhealthy and others are healthy.

Well the main one is meat and animal fat, where humans get the bulk of their nutrition. None of these processed canned foods contain meat and vital animal fats. People actually act surprised when you suggest this to them, like you're talking about big foot. Every mammal weans their offspring onto adult foods, real foods, and for humans it was meat for millions of years by now. You can either cook it down till it's soft or pre-chew it(Which confers it's own benefits).

@@dazesalaz6879 You're thinking of rice. And yeah, canned rice contains arsenic at higher levels which if fed everyday can get problematic, you're right.
