How many of you were uncomfortable when she sat in Carrier Fisher's directors chair??? I was actually livid, she doesn't have the right! As the late Indiana Jones would say "This should be in a museum"

Oh, FFS, the chair is for sale. It's going to have anonymous asses (anonyasses?) in it weeks after this aired. It's not a Greek sculpture, antiquity to be preserved from flash photography and human breath... and these years later, I guarantee someone has farted on it arleady... but one vetted news lady in a clean suit is worthy of a livid reaction? take prozac . Geez.

It's so amazing that she embraced the fact that she was apart of the Star Wars universe and owned all of this cool stuff. Many stars seem to get annoyed when they are always associated with a singular role, but she really seemed to enjoy being Princess Leia!

Why? Ever lose a parent and have to go into their home and you can't keep everything and a museum is too difficult. Her mother tried to open one with her collection and it did not pan out. So easy to judge until you have to go through an entire house of valuables. I get comfort knowing somewhere out there a person is admiring items my mother loved but for me it is too painful. I have the items I cherish, I could not handle seeing her items just sit and have people gauk at her personal items she cherished.

It's very common to have such celebrity auctions. For one thing, when someone has that kind of money, the inheritance taxes are very high and you have to liquidate assets and keep only what the heirs actually want. I am sure her daughter has kept some of her more treasured possessions -- but given the enormity of the collection, she probably didn't want to keep everything.

@ernestmac137 жыл бұрын
You are assuming a hell of a lot, even if he was in the industry; loosing your loved ones is never easy and neither is letting go of their possessions. You have to consider that, he already owns a home, doesn't have room for all of his sister's and mother's stuff, not would he necessarily want all of their stuff either. I mean, some folks might want those paintings knowing Carrie Fisher once owned them, but I think they are boring. That's the thing, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and you can only have so much stuff. By selling the stuff at auction and donating the money to charity, he can do a lot of good in both his sister's and mother's names, which they would have probably wanted and may even be spelled out before they died in a living trust which would give him little control over the matter.

Where are you going to fit two homes worth of stuff inside your own home? When will you find time to look at and or use each item, at which point isn't this hording? Often hordes have gone through some tragic event, which causes them to begin hording things to compensate for the emotions of that event, in sort of a OCD/anxiety disorder.

Lyn Croughan You assume too much.
@TylerLethersin7 жыл бұрын
Lyn Croughan sadly when famous people die (artist) they tend to have everything unreleased & rare released to the world. It's kind of like prince with this music because now the record label is releasing his unreleased songs / material & we all know prince didn't want it released in the first place. This just happens with every artist out there.

Nothing is sad about it. It's a celebration of her life and her brother has always been this charismatic. He knew his sister and his mother better than anyone and I'm sure he'll make the best decision on what to do with it all which is probably huge and needs to be taken care of.
@discotheque58607 жыл бұрын
First of all I dont think anyone was referencing anything charismatic about the brother. Secondly if they wanted to celebrate their loved ones life I can think of a thousand more loving and celebratory gestures than a cheap infomercial trying to garner interest and ensure the largest profit from his sisters death. Tell yourself what you need to, but this is just opportunistic capitalism personified and its disgraceful. It explains why she needed to drugs to fill a void in her life, when she looked around her all she saw were these vacuous shallow vampires.

Yes, I agree. I have to say, no one flies into a rage when Billie Lourd goes on the circuit speaking proudly and lovingly about her mom and grandmother (as she's advertising a performance). But this guy does the same thing, likely following his sister's will, and it's "String him up high, boys!"

I've never commented on KZbin before but most of these comments bothered me. I don't agree that this was disrespectful nor do I feel her brother wants to just make a buck. Non of us know what her wishes are, but I would assume, like most people with money, that she planned for what would happen when she passed. She was obviously a collector and the idea that her daughter should keep everything she ever bought is ludicrous. I'm sure she's taken the things that meant something to her and the rest will now be enjoyed by others who will love them. As to her brothers demeanor, he seems to be excited that he can share her with others. She was a very open and joyful person and, I'm guessing that the auction for charity was either her own idea or something they want to do in her honor; either way it's admirable and to make that a success he has to make people excited about what's available. I don't feel he's being disrespectful. That's my opinion, but, like every other commenter, I have no idea what her wishes were, nor what her remaining family is going through

I agree Steve. I think that Todd is the executor of both estates. He was very involved in selling off Debbie's Hollywood memorabilia a few years back too. He has experience liquidating estates. I'm sure in their wills Todd has been entrusted with this monumental task. He has a lot of work ahead of him. Both estates will have to be catalogued, the assets sold and distributed and the homes sold. I can bet a dollar to a doughnut that Billie will receive ALL assets from the sale of her mother's estate and my hope is that Todd will receive ALL assets from the sale of Debbie's estate. That is fair. I think Todd is being lambasted for nothing.

Thank you, Steve. I could not agree more. This comment section is an example of a modern day lynch mob, pitchforks and torches, coming to extract the heretics from their homes and burn them... because they don't have all the information. But what do they care? They are in a tizzy and tizzies must be carried out without 2nd thought. :(

Auction block. No matter how famous you are or what good you did in your life, once you're dead the vultures swoop in to sell your belongings.
@TheOriginalMaxGForce7 жыл бұрын
It'll happen to you, too. After you're dead 99% of the stuff you've surrounded yourself with will be buried at the dump. Anything worth money will be sold to strangers.

Fortunately I don't believe in being a mindless consumer. I don't own a car, for example. I've also been an organizer for "Buy Nothing Day," which is the day after Thanksgiving, the day when people go into attack mode to buy things they don't actually need. My clothes will go to homeless shelters when I die.

How is it being a vulture? Fast forward (ummm, say...) 40 years from now a friend dies and leaves you his entire house of stuff to deal with. What do you do? Can we call you a vulture? (How lofty the judgmental sit on their thrones not having had the life experience to know the burden of such things. How is the air up there, Noe?)

This should be a museum like Graceland. Obviously all the personal items would be removed but as far as the house/furnishings and memorabilia should all remain untouched. Preserved as a museum with proceeds going towards her favorite charity. Sucha shame they auctioned off and sold everything
