Q1 : Answer correct. Q2 : order MATTERS. We are selecting for 2 different posts. With replacement Q3 : order DOES NOT matter. The reason for selection is the same. So, order does not matter. Without replacement. Q4 : Answer correct

24:15 i feel even though it is just one each flower but doesn’t the placement of one flower over other change the bouquet. i feel it will...If i need a special arrangement of flowers even if its one makes a difference So 6 right?
@Wizako6 жыл бұрын
No Kalyan. A bouquet is a just a collection of flowers. If the arrangement or placement is to be considered, the question will explicitly mention that. Unless otherwise stated in the question, when it comes to a bouquet, the default is that the arrangement is of no consequence. So, there will be only 3 types of bouquets as discussed in the video.

@@Wizako I don't understand how order does not matter in the last one. For example in the case of password, CAT is not equal to ACT, and so shouldn't the order matter and therefore it is 2 events?
@kumarshubham91585 жыл бұрын
Hi Baskar Sir, I have a doubt on the 1st question that you posted in the 42nd minute. Again, I had paused and started solving the questions by my own, which would be the most idle way of learning and evaluating my own-self. My solutions goes as follows: Since there are 3 types and we need groups of 2 each time: 3!/2! = 3 And, since there are 5 flowers of each type in the bouquet, that's clearly mentioned in the question, there is going to be a total of 10 flowers that can be arranged in: 10!/(5!*5!) ways. So my final solution came out to be: 3*10!/(5!*5!). The part (42nd min, 40th sec) wherein you said "That 5 flowers of each type could be 5, could be 7, could be 1" didn't make much sense to me as it is clearly mentioned for one bouquet to be made 2 types of flowers are used and 5 of each types are considered, i.e., to say a bouquet of "10 flowers" are being prepared. It's like I went through your solution and then re-winded to the question and read it word-to-word to get the same solution that i presented above and my only concern is I might do the same in my GMAT exam. Baskar Sir, please tell me where did I go wrong. Also, let me know how exactly the question would have been framed that my solution would have been considered correct. Also, for the 2nd question please frame a formula for us students because when we consider 3 types of flowers, having a group of 2(considering both same and different types), it was easy to calculate it out, that came out to be 6(VR, RJ, VJ, VV, RR, JJ). Now I change the question and made it 4, solution is going to be 10 (VR, VJ, VL, RJ, RL, JL, VV, RR, JJ, LL). I again changed the question and made it 5 and the solution came out to be 15. The thing is as a student, I understood the concept what you were trying to explain, but I still didn't get the formula for it, which is important for me so that I will be able to confidently crack a question wherein instead of 3 flowers, 10 or any number of flowers are given and I don't have to manually figure out how many bouquets can be made from them taking 2 at one go. Awaiting your reply and hitting your 2nd part of this same topic. Thank you so much, Shubham.
@Exodias20005 жыл бұрын
Also interested in the formula for understanding the above mentioned unless you figured it out in 45:45. I initially did 3!*3!/(2*1) which is obv. wrong and had to draw out the options. Not an option if the sample size gets larger and would appreciate the help with understanding the formula to help with this when dealing with repetition being allowed.

In the 3rd question, 3 cards has to be selected at random from pack of cards, so it can be done with replacement right ?
@Wizako6 жыл бұрын
Hello Bilal Had it been an example of sampling with replacement this is what would have happened 1. You pick a card. Put it back. (You have replaced it) You have no card with you. 2. You pick a card. Put it back. (You have replaced it). You have no card with you. 3. You pick a card. So, how many cards do you have now? You will be left with just one card with you. If you have to have 3 cards with you, that is possible only when you have not replaced the cards. Anytime you read, select 3 or 4 people, 3 or 4 objects at random, we are talking about sampling without replacement.
