@@alexharrison9340 His crime was his naivety and loyalty to America. He put too much faith in the "special relationship", as the US led him and the UK up the garden path. Blair trusted blindly what the US intelligence agencies were telling him. If you seriously think that Blair was privy to those classified meetings where the CIA discussed intelligence and misinformation, then you're deluded. Blair only knew what America wanted him to know. He's not a murderer. He just aligned us too closely to the US after 9/11.

The U.K played a relatively small role in Iraq, mostly in the south and partly left within the year. You might feel like saying 1 million dead adds some sort of heft to your point but IBC (Iraq body count) literally has the figure anywhere between 300,000-600,000. Suddam killed est 500,000, yet you don't speak about that or him using nerve gas on children. If Tony Blair is so despised by these countries why is most of his time spent there? Why is he welcomed back as part of the Blair Institute to help and discuss policy matters? Most people seem to forget or not even known that the WMD argument falls flat on the basis it was the intelligence service themselves that gave bad information, not the government making stuff up. Was there WMD's? nope. Was there immediate and fast tracked plans to get WMD's, yes. It really seems only the UK over represents our part in almost anything. The Iraq war was essentially never mentioned after 2006 to GW Bush, other countries that took part like Australia and Poland, never comes up. Yet here we're responsibly 1,000,000 deaths?

It was the "freedom fighters" you were rooting for who caused the vast majority of those deaths, in large part because they knew you'd blame their American/British enemies for their atrocities and thus made every drop of blood they spilled a propaganda victory. "In total, over 150,000 people have been killed and 80 percent of them - more than 122,000 - were civilians, said the IBC. [...] According to a 2010 assessment by John Sloboda, director of Iraq Body Count, U.S. and Coalition forces had killed at least 22,668 insurgents as well as 13,807 civilians in the Iraq War, with the rest of the civilians killed by insurgents, militias, or terrorists."

You may feel better as a pacifist, but As the facts of quantities of people killed, the abundance of killing was by Iraqi Baathists. Conclusion is the US/UK/20 other countries invaded to stop the oppression and murder, and yes they killed to do that.

You said that coalition forces which were actually terrorists were there to help people,......... No they were not there to help people, rather to destroy their infrastructure of 90 billion dollars, they were there to steal their natural resources which the USA has been doing for the past many centuries ...... Must say, miss his leadership and his style; not from UK (I’m Cdn), what a bright, engaging politico. Don’t agree with what happened in Iraq, but let’s be honest, the decision was really made across the pond. Also, consider Pierce’s comments interesting, re: the dominos that fell in Middle East, due to Iraq war. However, we must remember, that changing one decision does not mean everything else stays the same. That is what makes decisions so difficult, you don’t have all the facts when you make them (you have whatever information is available), let alone the benefit of hindsight. This was one of the most interesting and enjoyable discussions to watch, no binary groups talking over each other ad nauseam. Thank you.

And anyone who has served and been to Afghan will know it was attacked by terrorists. If a leader who supports the terrorists groups and supplies them is rumoured to have weapons of mass destruction, is utterly ruthless and a total narcissist who kills his own people and openly denounces the west what would you do? You can’t take decisions like that lightly and those who say he has blood on his hands what war leader doesn’t? Do you know how many mistakes Winston Churchill made in his career?
