And doesn't use smartphones, computers, cars, bikes, hospital/medical equipment - anything that has plastic components. So many amazing advancement were possible because of the Oil & Gas industry and I bet you anything if one of them got sick they wouldn't think about the fucking planet and would hop straight into an MRI machine. Also, hate to say this but building, assembling and especially transporting and installing wind turbines, solar panels or dams still requires fossil fuels in the supply chain, so what they are proposing can't be achieved without oil and doesn't even make sense as an alternative since it can't be done without hydrocarbons.

These people are definitely going about this the wrong way. I live on a small farm with my family, power our home and vehicles almost totally via solar power. Our tractor and ute runs on waste vegetable cooking oil. We grow much of our own food, composting toilet, buy and wear second hand clothing etc etc. And I DO NOT support these protests. It's ridiculous. I want to distance myself as far as possible from these people and these protests.

The protestor might have some points which make sense, the issue is the way he's doing it is wrong, way too defensive. To even attempt to get anyone on your side you need to approach as a sensible conversation. It's a shame, shouting, aggressive attitude. There is no scientific data that shows that the world will end as we know it if we do not immediately stop using fossil fuels.. There is no data that shows that carbon emissions are even doing significant damage to the climate. It is all political propaganda. I fail to understand what their proposal is. They ask not to use fossil fuel, but what is the alternative? Have they invented engines that can run on other types of fuels? Do they know whether renewable energy is more clean than fossil fuels, considering the production and life cycle of solar panels, wind turbines, batteries, and so on? Everyone would love to avoid polluting the planet. If they were able to read numbers, they would realize that in 50 years the global population has grown 3 times and that's actually a problem that has to be faced long before the issue of pollution and fossil fuels. If this trend doesn't stop, the increase in pollution would be more and more difficult to contain. They keep saying "don't you hold dear your children and grandchildren?". I would tell them: "do you know that your children and grandchildren will grow up in a planet where there will be less and less space and prices will keep increasing, due to overpopulation competing with limited resources?"
