6.5 years ago, when I was a beginner, I bought a similar bike (even the price was the same). There is still one problem that is not visible at first glance: the washers between the links are plastic. Therefore, after 20-30 km, these washers are erased and the rear triangle begins to bend when you press the pedals. It's trash, not a bike. Good luck to everyone who bought such a bike. I hope you survive.

@@BerserkCD i had a really nice MTB that costed around 350 brand new. It was a hardtail with an okay-ish amount of travel in the front and cable disk brakes (160 obviously). I absolutely loved it, it wasn't blazing fast or anything special, but it was good enough to have fun for the 6 years i had it, sold it to a friend afterwards who used it to start on trails and even with his aggresive style and many crashes the bike lasted another 2 years of very heavy abuse, after wich the solder on the seat post tube cracked and separated in two. You can buy a good MTB for 350/500, just not anything above a hardtail. I do have to admit, it is really hard going back from an enduro to a regular bike though.

Man, seeing Blake send jumps, do wheelies and whatnot really proves that it's the rider's skill that matters, the bike is just an added insurance and acts as a conduit for that skill.

Well, he evolved his skills over the years riding proper bikes, not shitty ones. That is the key difference, with a shitty bike you can't evolve. It doesn't give you the confidence to go farther, you are limited.
@BFBMTb2 жыл бұрын
@@chrisstasinopoulos8895 actually, I'd say it's the other way around. Riding a cheap bike is similar to riding a HT. Imagine riding a hardtail down a black chunky trail with drops vs riding down the same trail with an enduro or dh rig. The dh rig will be more forgiving, while on the HT, you will have to use more skills to make it down safely and at a decent speed. On the dh rig, you won't really need to use your legs as suspension since you'll have plenty of rear travel. But on the ht, your legs are your suspension. So, on the ht or cheap bike, you will have to use more skills or it forces you to learn these skills. What is questionable though is the components and how long they will last on the cheap bike.

This is a good video for beginners, I have always tried to tell all my friends to not go for the shiny cheap stuff. Since I build and repair my bikes some of my friends have asked me to work on theirs and sometimes show me that they want to buy something like this. I try and avoid these as much as possible, even the bolts are made of chromed butter on something like this. It is essentially a heavy pogo stick with a built in time bomb. I always recommend an older, heck, even late 90s stuff over these. You are more likely to get into mountain biking on an older but lighter and well functioning bike than something like this that can put you off the sport all together. Not even mentioning the potential injury you could suffer when Not if something snaps off. A good second hand bike could potentially be resold for similar amount that you bought it for if you decide to either upgrade or quit. This bike will be worth whatever the bike stand is worth after a few rides. Stay safe out there!

I rode my 1998 Gary Fisher yesterday. About 10 years ago I put a Dart II Rockshox fork in it, with 28mm stanchions vs 24mm stanchions. I've replaced the worn out drivetrain. With some 26x2" Bontrager smooth tires, it's fine for road, smooth single track, paved paths, and hard pack paths/gravel roads. It's a great commuter or kick-around bike. Your point is spot on. A used, major brand mountain bike can be safe and reliable. Is an older, entry-level, quality hardtail capable of X-games stunts? No. Would a person have a go ANYWHERE (within reason) bike purchasing used? Yes.

I got a second hand 07 kona stuff and I love it, got it for like $190 a few years ago and I’ve put a couple hundred into it over the years to make it more safe and sturdy new drivetrain, headset, disk brakes and tire/rims to bring it into this decade

hello there.. i really like watching your videos, great stuff 👍. im not a professional rider like you, but i have been riding bikes since i was 5 years old im just a casual bike path sidewalk & street rider, but i ending up buying one of these bikes because i loved how it looked. i live in canada. when i bought i stripped the whole bike down to just the frame and over a year i replaced ever single thing on this bike with American good quality parts. i even put in sealed bearings. i beefed up the rear suspension spring (so no more hitting on the seat pole bar. i bought good quality rims that are 5 spokes. and now this bike rides beautiful.. no issues at all.. i now absolutely love riding this bike.. 😃. wish i could upload a photo.

Great slow motion, so we can see the flex of the wheels etc. Plus the eurobike has made it to this channel!

Blake, this is the best GMBN video ever. Watched it several times and I always cry my eyes out laughing. All props for this one

Love it, great video. Haven't laughed so much at a MTB video ever. Well done. £285 well spent on a kick stand and our entertainment

I’m doing my holiday job at my friend’s bike shop, who primarily sells Czech brand Olpran, which makes bikes of this price level. I’ve never thought the bikes he sells are any good, but after seeing this one I can finally see some of their ‘strong’ points. Of course, the components are equally cheap and pretty much rubbish, but at least the linkage is made to fit the frame triangle and not hit the seat tube and it doesn't have a ton of washers of million different materials, it’s a simple single-pivot design, so although it will eat a lot of power, the linkage may actually last some time, spring shock doesn't have the plasticy cover like on this one and looks that it could somehow work and their wheels have a large number of spokes, so they don't flex that much at all. However, I can also see one major benefit of this Eurobike compared to full-suspension Olpran bikes and that is threadless headset, which makes for way stiffer front end and mainly safer long-term riding (let’s be honest, few owners of these bikes maintain them as they should…).

Brave man :) a friend of mine spent two weeks in a hospital because of a similar bike. The head tube simply broken down.

Nice to see you check everything properly before riding most people just throw it together and ride it straight out the box. Bloke I work with bought one of these, rode it a couple of miles to and from work and we didn't see it again after the first week. When I asked him he said the front wheel collapsed one night on the way home.

Slow motion of front wheel reveals that the wheel has a mind of its own where it wants to go. And look like it cannot really decide. 😅

25+ years ago I bought my first full suspension bike. It was a LBS branded Claud Butler frame with RST suspension and other bits from the back on it. It was about £350 back then and that was so much better than this.... thing...

I have a Eurobike similar to this one that I bought about a year ago. Only difference is mine's a folding model and has spokes. I like to ride it on steep black trails at my local bike park, it never ceases to scare the shit out of me. I've wrecked it hard a few times, but it keeps coming back for more. Later this year I will upgrade to a real bike though.

Having ridden even cheaper "mountain bikes" to their deaths, I found this hysterically funny and relatable, thanks for risking your life for this! These are generally made for kids who want to look cool while riding to school once a week on smooth pavement. The bearings are planned obsolescence for these "walmart bikes".

Give Blake any mtb he will ride like nobody. He so so gifted & can easily make the best out of the bike, be it cheap or expensive. He just made the cheap bike worth x2 of it price after the ride. Cheers from Singapore.

I could buy this bike just for the wheels! - I'd take them off, scrap the rest of the bike and put the wheels on my wall, just to look at. They may be crap too, but man, they are cool! XD

Wow this made me subscribed! i have the same bike as my 1st budget mtb and also thought of turning it to a superbike but my wallet is not as brave as Blake / GMBN. I can't wait to see the outcome of the upgrade on the next video. i think its gonna be pretty cool and fun 😎

I would love to see a series where they don't ride bikes that are actual garbage, but rather low to mid level 'beginner' bikes from different brands to test the realistic limits of a decent build and lower level components. I would be zoned in for those.

Buy cheap buy twice . But for spot of people this would seem like good value . Videos like this just show that there is no shame in going second-hand and getting a belting bike for the same price great video blake
