I don’t, I stay away from drinking carbonated sugar water but also would never purchase a coke product especially after their ad campaign of “try to be less white”. I’m about to build this one but will definitely not be using any of the decals. These companies need to stay out of the Fascist socialist agendas…

DH, That's true. Especially with original releases because they've had time to warp. The newer kits are in better shape for assembly but the sheer number of pieces demands some patience. Thanks, Doug

Doug+ another great build I got my transtar 4070A kit in the mail I order 4 of those from auto world store they go together like a dream like to see you do a kit review of that on here it's a new kit of a1973 vintage they corrected a lot of the problems with old kit once again great review and build love the channel great content

I use to drive a GMC general it was definitely a great truck use to do heavy haul it was a truck you can work on I have the kit its definitely a awesome build .

What about the hubs and the chrome on the inside of the rim. How should you bond them? Should you paint the hubs? Should you scratch the chrome off the inside of the rim?.

@@RightOnReplicas thanks for the help, last night I scrapped the chrome between the rim faces where the two rims meat. I figure I’m gonna scratch some chrome off on the inside of the outer rim to hold it onto the hub cap.

The transmission in the GM line were left in the transmission manufacturer primer paint, red oxide. The Detroit Deisels were a turquoise green, not a metallic paint. Worked on many of these trucks.

I'm having all kinds of issues getting this thing together. The plastic axles arent strong enough to hold the weight of the truck, and snapped off during storage while in assembly. I fixed this using small nails superglued i to the rear differentials. The sleeper sits too high on the storage tanks. The hood hinges are also fragile and hard to glue, so I am using miniature hinges.

Joe, I feel you're pain! Those plastic axles will get brittle over time and break easily. It's best to replace them with metal. You've found good ways to remedy the kit's shortcomings. T, Testors style tube glue can be used on most anything. Later you'll find that epoxy and superglue has it's uses too! -Doug

I can see the first set of back wheels on the driver side don’t touch the mirror it’s sitting on, I’m about to start building this truck that I bought on clearance for $25.00 which was a good deal. Hopefully I don’t have this issue, it would be a disappointment if I have to figure out how to fix that…

Chris, That is more likely an issue with optical displacement. When you aim a photo lens at a mirror on an angle it can make it appear that it's not in contact. Even so, it can happen that a frame has a warp in it that needs to be straightened out in a hot bath and a cold shower. I’ve been working on this this truck over the past week and have to say it’s very disappointing. I found parts that don’t properly line up especially when it comes to the rear end and the back axles and springs. I will definitely try to avoid AMT when it comes to their big rigs even though I’ve built the Autocar truck and the Autocar dump truck and they went together just fine. I take my time putting these together and make sure parts are properly fitting together…
