GMC Hummer EV Full Review: 1000 BHP and CRAB WALK

The new GMC Hummer EV is not subtle. The $110k Edition 1 model we borrowed for an epic roadtrip in America had three motors - two at the back, one at the front - producing 1,000bhp and 1,200lb ft of torque. It could do 0-62mph in 3.0secs, which is basically as quick as a Ferrari 296 GTB. And that’s not the scary bit. It has a claimed range of 329 miles, which is pretty good, but only because it has a huge 205kWh battery - that’s the same as six Honda es, and it weighs... wait for it... about 4,100kg, equivalent to nine Caterham 170Rs....
So, this, or a Tesla Cybertruck?

What a beautifully put together video. This truck does not get enough credit for its engineering and design nor does *gm.* Absolutely amazing how they brought this thing to production nearly unchanged from the concept. That’s unheard of, and they covered everything. The attention to detail makes it worth every penny imo. These E1s will be highly valuable as time goes on as the very first fully electric Hummers.

Dropping the rear window is amazing! I used to be a tree surgeon and you sometimes end up with weird shaped roots and branches that could press and potentially break the glass. Also with really long items that would hang to far over in loading bay, or stick out to high resting on the roof, you can push it through the back window into the truck. Practical

A good idea for softer items, but I would never do that with hard items. In the event of a n accident it would go right through the cabin and through the from windshield.

Yeah, the Hummer is a lifestyle/recreational vehicle…and I think the only convertible EV in production at the moment. People mad because it is a bad replacement for a Prius…which isn’t its mission. It’s a low production tech showcase for GM.

I love this truck. I have had my EV1 for almost a year; the most incredible EV to drive. It's a great truck once you get over having to replace the battery system, charging system, tonneau cover, and cruise control.

I disagree, if I were designing a car for a special operations team this is the sort of vehicle I'd design. EV to avoid IR sensors, crabwalk to move around obstacles, fast charging, etc. etc. it's not the GI's ride, but I'm sure someone is going to use those capabilities.

You last comment rings true the sales for these are terrible, selling just over 1000 SUV and PU versions combined in the most recent quarter vs Rivian selling almost 20,000. That was a fun and interesting video but sales performance is clear that this vehicle doesnt have broad appeal and will likely be canceled as soon as GM can replace it with the Silverado EV or something else. Im still glad they built it though just as a showpiece and to attract attention to EVs that people will buy.

Yeah, I am in Michigan and you don't see many, see a ton of Rivians though. There's a pickup and a green SUV in my town but that's about it. My neighbor who has owned several H2s in the past chose to get a Rezvani, not one of these. They are quick though, the pickup one is always blasting down the road.

You couldn't legally drive this in the UK on a standard Class B car licence, as that only covers vehicles up to 3,500kg gross.

How tf is it "much less pollution" ? The energy has to come from somewhere even if the vehicle doesn't have it's own generator (ICE engine). Not to mention all of the mining, lithium, battery waste. This thing is heavier than all of those vehicles by a lot, and is hauling around a ton in batteries any time it's moving. Just because the pollution isn't coming out of an exhaust pipe doesn't mean it doesn't create pollution you complete moron. Anyway, I wish GM would move the honking gear shifter to the column so it would clear up that huge center tunnel with usable unencumbered usable space. as much as i like the look and design of the electric hummer vehicle, when i compare the hummer ev to the tesla motors cybertruck, the cybertruck is much more interesting to me. i don’t know that i can explain this. other than to say, anything tesla motors makes, i like. and i think i just look at the remainder of the auto industry as museum pieces, that will one day help us to understand, and compare, where the auto industry didn’t realize just how smart buyers of automobiles, are. no longer falling for fancy, and clever advertising. but shifted over time, to actually having minimum requirements. and all of the minimum requirements are outlined indefinitely, by tesla motors. setting the standards now, and indefinitely into the future. tesla motors represents the potential of what is actually possible, when everyone at a company has the same goal. build the best vehicles on the planet - bar none.

Ev sizes will decrease? Don't know if you noticed but that started in the early 2000's with every brand and not just these pos. Everyone buying new pickup like there worth it not knowing the chassis has been getting thinner or replaced with aluminum and looks like they can haul simply by making them tall to fool y'all. Rather worry about gas then to worry about learning to put these pos in neutral for when it shuts off on you at a turning light.
