This is a great motor home platform... The power plant is almost a direct take off of the GM Eldorado / Tornado power plant... The suspension system was quiet advanced for the day... They drove much like the family car ... The driver seat positioning was excellent... One of the major rental car companies used this platform for their shuttle buses for years with great success.

Nice restoration on that coach. On the asking price , unless you find a collector I can't see it bringing that kind of money. Class A diesel pushers built in the early 2000's to 2012 or so can be found. They will have more room with more features and have much better parts availability . Also units with slide outs are game changers when it comes to floor space . Many camping parks do have age restrictions on older RV's that can limit the available camp sites. I do wish you luck on getting what you want for it , I know you definitely put a lot of work into it.

Brother I hear ya! It absolutely blows me away! I was embarrised charging $40 when I started this and I busted my but for it! But seriously today, man bigger and newer is not always better. Run out the total picture of having a quality mobile house at your beckoned call? For something to play and have fun with it kinda like my coach and my needs...no. There are discriminating others that may disagree and they too can say that. I do appreciate your support

What a beauty. Problem with a gorgeous coach like that is you want to restore it to its original state which usually means no lithium batteries, no solar and no composting toilet. Deal breakers. But it’s definitely a stunner. Especially meaningful for me. That’s the year my son was born.

This is a really nice design to begin with and they did a superb job restoring it and updating an upgrading everything 70,000 is a bargain don't listen to all the negative stuff here. Not that I have 70,000 or want this thing but I'll tell you what it's a very nice build.

VERY NICLY DONE. twenty years ago i done body off the frame restorations on two of these. everything from drivetrain to wiring, plumbing, etc. even custom built stainless grey and black tanks. also done a Revcon same way. those things are so cool

It was not restored it it was a partial remodel. Restoring would mean to fix things that needed to be fixed while still keeping the original features.

A lot of those GMC motorhomes are being restored some people gone ahead and opted for the Duramax diesel engine for its efficiency

What a beautiful job you guys did on that reno! WOW! It looks like what a brand new one, made now, would look like if GM decided to get back into this style of motorhome. Just gorgeous! Personally, I'd much more prefer this type of motorhome than the new ones available today. I find these new ones to be too danged dark inside (not enough windows) and very cramped. The ONLY think I don't like about this one (and many new ones too) is that there's not a single double bed, perhaps at the rear, where there's room for each person to get onto the bed like in a house (on the sides). Most seem to make people have to climb over the foot of the beds. I also didn't notice a stove there, unless it's hidden or "outside". But even so, just gorgeous and the price is reasonable!

So many questions- the toilet is almost the same height as the sink? You kept the original tub/shower without recoating it? Why update some things but keep others original? Like the cheap plastic 12v lights, those aren't original and, well... they're just cheap looking. Do the twin beds still fold up for seating like they did originally? GMC coaches are awesome, but for $70k I would expect a better rehab, and a cooktop, and a convection MW. The fridge appears to be 120v, but it wasn't mentioned. Oh, lose the drink.

they used a high rise toilet, designed to be floor mounted...they have it mounted on a box, designed for a low rise

@@dougnashz call around. I had a beautiful 91 motorhome. They wouldn't allow it. Has to do with there insurance policy's. I do not know about boats. But I learned the hard way on going camping.

Many people with really good looking restored coach have no problem once the staff takes a look at it. Others say the year it was restored as the model year and if they look they don't know the difference. I had a really nice looking 1973 GMC Coach similar to this one and never had a problem. Well, yes I did have a problem once at an upscale park in Las Vegas. The was a RV show going on with several Mfg. Reps. sales booths selling coaches and equipment . When I pulled in people started leaving the display booths and swarmed my coach to look at it. The park people quickly asked me to pull away from the check in area.

Is it front wheel drive? How big is the motor ? the brakes all done? The tires new?

Yes front drive. The engine should be a 403 Olds. Earlier models came with the 455. The transmission in these were great so long as you took care of them. Change the fluid regularly and run an extra cooler. Don't tow with it either. People do but I wouldn't. At the most a motorcycle trailer. The drive train is basically from an Eldorado/Toranado and the weight of this rig is close to the max for it. Good thing is parts for the engine are shared with the passenger cars so pretty easy to source.

There’s a guy in Empire Nevada who has a dozen of these rigs sitting in the desert east across Hwy 447 from the town and gypsum wall board factory. You can see the rigs on Google Earth.

I noticed the rear left factory speaker that was inside the storage cabinet. Did Coachman (or whoever outfitted the Royale) put that cabinet in, or was that done later? Just curious, because I know nothing about the Royale builds. Thanks.

I believe all the Royales were outfitted by Coachmen. There were at least 4 different configurations; Rear Bath/Center Twin, Rear Twin/Sidebath, Rear Lounge/Side bath, and a Center Kitchen/Rear Bath? My preference is the Rear Twin/Side Bath which had a had a nice Hutch Cabinet just rear of the main entry. They Royales were a definite upgrade over the standard outfitted coach. Factory speaker would have been a part of the Transmode that was turned over to Coachman for outfitting. Sounds pretty strange to cover up a speaker like that but that is what was done.
