Strongest and most well built coach ever. We made a cross country trip in ours with 3 children and a large Bassett Hound. Loved the big front passenger seat. Can’t remember the model we had. But did have the Olds 455 engine.

Brings back memories traveling in my grandparents Revcon from Texas to Louisiana, & Florida in the 70's. My grandfather turned into a traveling art gallery to show my grandmother's art (good write off!) Ive always wondered where the Revcon ended up after his death...❤😢

My parents had one for years during the 80's. Annual trip from Michigan to Mazatlan. Towed Boston Whaler behind it. Don't think he mentioned it was Old's Tornado front-wheel drive.

What a beautifully sorted old RV! It also looks like it has upgraded LED headlamps which is terrific, and despite not having any outside storage bays of any kind (that I could see anyway...) but there is a decent amount of cabinets inside to help compensate. Add a induction cooktop and you will have a working kitchen with a lot of counter space. Yes, it's an older RV, but the Olds engine and transmission are a great combination and the RV can easily be customized a bit on the inside like a smart TV and additional LED lighting, etc - just basics really, and you'll have a reliable and comfortable RV that will last for years. Hopefully someone will snap this up fast and enjoy the build quality and how rare these unique RV's are. Looks great guys!

WoW.... I'm restoring a beautiful bright red... Aero Cruiser 23... not quite as big... but basically the same appearance... except mine is resale red... the guy told me it had 50k original miles... I drove it... at the MVD the lady said it should be 120k +... did I want to back out... heck no lady.. I knew that... I'm a big boy... I have a long term project and my wife is much happier now... thanks 🙏

Looks like a lot of restoration work has gone into this rig. When you guys get hold of a Revcon 6 wheel drive 'super C" on the F350 4 door hit me up, I have a large check with your name on it. Complements on the video production also.

Beautiful! I find it way more attractive than today's motorhomes. It's boxy without looking too box-like in styling. I'd buy a Revcon if I had someone to share the experience and responsibilities with. I love the upgrades made to this Revcon. Among the upgrades I'd have done to it would be a Turbo Diesel engine. 🙂

@@lostteacher Nice. While later Slant nosed Revs are nice, I would buy an earlier Flat nosed model. If I had one, I'd have either a 6.5 Turbo Diesel V8 engine powering it, or a Duramax 6.6 Turbo Diesel if it fits.

Very clean and sleek exterior. Inside also very nice for the early 70s. Reasonably tasteful interior before they started with the whacked out color schemes later on in the decade. A bit of an orphan, especially the generator and drivetrain, but someone with specific experience and skills could enjoy it without going bankrupt. Build quality at a casual glance looks to be on par with the better coaches such as the Lazy-Daze. Like the clean looking galley with the extra counter space. RV ovens are overrated unless you do a lot of baking. An induction cooktop is fine for cooking most meals and a compact butane stove would be a great back up

Very nice. The revcon has some distinct advantages for sure. I have heard of better fuel economy, but also I believe the front suspension to share more parts with a standard toronado? Engine access looks horrible, though.

@Fred brandon the Revcon is not a GMC though. The miles per gallon claims I do believe, because the later model revcons did not use a TH425 setup. They used a front differential and transfer case. I believe a manual transmission was also an option.

@fredbrandon1645 Yes but no. The Revcon is significantly lighter than the GMC was. All the cabinetry is Formica laminate over a honeycomb core. Cabinet framing was all solid wood, rather than the heavier pressed wood. Interior walls were aluminum, so again lighter than the paneling you are use to. GM made Revcon build 5 coaches for testing which they ran on their test track. This was called the Brickyard test. No failures, other than the lower control arm, which was subsequently reinforced. I knew a guy who nearly 300K miles on his flat nose Revcon. Never did anything other than change fluids and re-weld the lower control arm around the ball joint. He also towed a small Subaru with it. Unfortunately the coach exploded as a result of a propane leak, so it is no longer around. The owner survived the explosion. It occurred just as he was opening the door do go in. When it exploded, the door protected him and he ended up on the ground underneath the door. (And yes I met the guy and saw his coach when it had 275K on it. )

@@AndrewsGMC 15 mpg was the diesel version. Very few were sold and it was very under powered. But yes, it was the later version with the standard motor/trans combo, with a transfercase and a driveshaft running forward. Had a Dana 70 running in reverse, for the FWD. The 454 (still FWD) could get 10 mpg @ 55 mph on flat ground. I had a 502 in mine, and would get 8+ at 75+ mph.

Yes, as he said in the beginning of the video it was a 455 with a TH425 trans. TH425 is the front drive version of the TH400

Revcon was the first of the two RVs. GM wouldn't sell John Hall (Revcon designer and 'Airstream Wally Byam's' stepson) any Toronado FWD stub frames until they took the prototypes onto GM's 24 hr. test track. It did so well that GM IMMEDIATELY formed the GMC RV section.

Considering the advancements of camping equipment, all you need is space and its fine. A portable induction stove hooked to a portable power station will work. They're smaller and if you're not using them, you can put them away as they're not bolted to the floor.
