In this video I have a look at a 1999 GMC Sonoma pick up with a customer complaint that the horn does not work. I'll be honest, I assumed it was going to be the clock spring... boy was I surprised. -Enjoy!

A blonde pushes her BMW into the gas station and tells the mechanic that it died. After working on it for a few minutes, he has it idling smoothly. "What's the story?" she asked. "Just crap in the carburator," the mechanic replied. "How often do I have to do that?" asked the blonde.

Eric your way of troubleshooting is excellent. You don't jump around guessing willy-nilly, you don't fire a parts cannon unnecessarily, and you DO trace a problem strategically. I wish more mechanics were like you... honest, trustworthy, and simplistically non-over complicated. Thanks for bringing us along on this repair. #SMAfamily

Theres 2 old ladies sitting outside the retirement home on there walkers smoking cigarettes. And it starts to rain. One of the woman pulls a condom out of her purse and rolls it over her cigarette so the rain doesnt put it out. The other woman is baffled and asks the woman with the condom "what is that thing marge?". Marge replies "oh it's a condom. Never heard of em?" Ethel replied "no not at all! Where can I get some?" Marge tells Ethel "you can get them at our local pharmacy." So the next day Ethel goes to the pharmacy to buy some condoms. Ethel walks in with her Walker and has the biggest smile on her face from the excitement of her new discovery. She walks up to the pharmacist desk and the pharmacist says "hello ma'am how can I help you today?" Ethel replied "hello. Yes do you have any condoms?" The pharmacist is just shocked. He thinks to himself "this woman is at least in her 70's or 80's and is in a Walker. What does she need condoms for?! But he proceeds and tells Ethel "well yes we do. We have many different brands, sizes, styles. What is it your looking for?" Ethel replies "doesnt matter as long as it fits a camel." Keep up the good work eric! Lol

And that is why I love to watch you work on autos. You spend the time, use your noggin, and logically deduce the issue at hand. You don't "swap parts" until the problem is fixed. Keep up the great work! James from New Mexico. (And yes, we are part of the US. 😲😜

I love the way you present the problem, then decide on a game plan. That format makes pausing the video, to allow the viewer to think of a game plan himself, a rewarding challenge. And the way you use a fairly low current test light (~150mA) to quickly identify relay connections is a safe method that stands a low chance of frying upstream electronics if you make a mistake.

Hey Eric, here's a fault that you'll never get to see. I had a Renault 4 van, it was one of those French utility vehicles for farmers. AFAICR it had an 850cc engine and obviously was super economical. I drove that van the length of the UK several times, also to Germany and France. It had a really good feature in that the passenger seat folded twice and went under the dashboard. This meant that if you put your travel bag in the "hole" where the seat normally sat you could sleep fully stretched out. Perfect for me and my dog! Anyway to get back on track (Ooops! more background needed) This vehicle had the gearbox at the front so the mechanical speedo cable went past the battery. One evening I needed to go to the shop which was about half a mile away, I thought "why are my headlights so dim?" . So when I smelled that special smell I opened the hood and saw that about two feet of the speedo cable was glowing a dull red color. Yep! it had been rubbing on the battery post. It dried all the lubricant and the speedo cable died shortly thereafter. RIP :) P.S.I love your videos, please continue to make them. P.P.S. I have a load more of "fixes" for vehicles that unfortunately you and I will never see again :(

Oh what a familiar sight ... under the hood of an s-series truck! So that's how that airbag comes out! When I parted out my '00 Jimmy, I used a prybar out of frustration, and blew those holders to pieces. 😁 Then I tried detonating the airbag out back. NOTHING worked on that POS! It was a DUD!! FIGURES!! 🤣 I fixed a generator for a customer that had that same problem - oxidization of copper on the commutator. Ran great, but put out 0 VAC at the outlets. A little emery cloth, and she was good as new. That one had sat many years. I've fixed many cars and small engines that way too - sand the points a little, and suddenly you've got spark, just like magic. ☺️ My favorite fix - no parts needed! 👍👍

Two guys are walking in the woods when they see a giant hole, so they go over to have a look. They decide to throw a stone down to see how deep the hole is, but the hole is so deep they don't hear the stone land. They have a look around and spy an old gearbox, so they decide to throw it down the hole. They heave it to the side and shove it down. Suddenly, a goat comes rushing out of the bushes, and leaps head first down the hole. Wow! Says the first guy, did you see that!?? So they're standing wondering wtf just happened when a farmer appears and says, hey, any of you guys see my goat? So the two guys say yeah, funny enough, he just flew out of that Bush and leapt head first down that giant hole! Impossible! Says the farmer, I had him tied to an old gearbox!

Another great (and very logical) diagnosis Eric.....and the sort of superb content that keeps me hooked on the SMA Channel. I'm not a great joke teller - but I'll give it a shot...…..Just after I passed my driving test, my dad told me that I should never forget that the most dangerous part of any car is the nut behind the steering wheel. The very next day, I took a socket set and removed the offending fastener on my car. Imagine my surprise when the steering wheel detached from the column at 70 MPH on a local bypass!!! Never let my dad give me mechanical advice again after that!!!! Keep up the great work sir - love your videos.

That is my kind of repair one with 0 cost. I had 2 such repairs recently in my 35' motor home on a Ford F53 chassis recently making a trip to AZ and back to WA. The first night on the road about 150 miles from home the transmission went in to a heavy shutter mode when shifting in to 3rd and 4th gear. I stopped at the first gas station and checked every thing over and found nothing. Decided to continue driving in 2nd another 200 miles to Boise ID and just have a new transmission installed there. As I was driving I remembered it was a computer controlled trans and remembered what you always said about power and grounds. I pulled off at a rest stop and not having any idea what to do I pulled all the fuses and relays in the power box. To my surprise headed on my way and the transmission worked fine and made the trip with out any more issues. On the way home the cruise control kept kicking out with every hard pot hole in the road then got to where it would just quit on it's own. I decided to hit the steering wheel with my fist and it would quit then I hit the steering column at the base and it took nothing to make it quit. So I knew where the issue was. Took the covers off the bottom of the column and unplugged the plugs I could reach and pulled apart the big connector to the column. Back on the road and not a problem any more. Motor homes built on these Ford chassis ride rough and both issues were poor connections due to the shake rattle and roll. I got real lucky on both problems

I have a 03 blazer that has the same air bag. Thanks for showing us how to remove the air bag. Hopefully I never have to remove it. But if I ever do, I know how to properly do it.

Excellent trouble shooting - didn't stop until you got completely to the end of the deal. It's real important for people to learn how to eliminate things - split the circuit in half, figure out what half has the problem, and the rest is good... only a few steps and you are usually left with the broken or defective part in your hand!

"I love it when a plan comes together." - Col. Hannibal Smith. Banacek would give you a Polish proverb! Yes, both characters played by George Peppard, an actor I quite enjoyed the work of.

Last one I fixed I put a dab of solder on the spot you cleaned to give mine a better connection. Oh and I put it back together not sitting in the seat just in case it blowed.

A guy is going ice fishing, hes all set up and he starts drilling a hole into the ice. He suddenly hears a loud booming voice all around him "There are no fish under the ice!" Confused the man looks around puzzled. He moves his setup about 10 feet away and then starts to drill a hole into the ice. Again the booming voice more insistent this time "There are no fish under the ice!" The man is now very confused and looks around and asks tentatively "God? Is that you?" The loud booming voice responds "No! It is the ice rink manager!"

They came from the factory with codes already set. GM really could have made money with these if the quality had been better. I have nothing to prove, hate driving the pregnant cows * had to buy after these for a simple job and dislike the cost to my company for the overhead. But - this platform as badly made and the male insecurity needed compensation for whatt they lacked.
