Tires still scare me. I was at my local tire shop recently and they pointed out a big round hole in the metal roof. Apparently a wheelbarrow tire blew up and decided to exit the building! That front axle is looking good!

I just did my front shocks on my 97 f350 recently. I had jackstands on my frame and the jack under the axle so move the axle to get bolts through while shock still banded. My one mounting bolt looked like crap. It looked like either center was ground down a little or rusted down so i got a new bolt for that location. Fun trying to get a hardened metric bolt in the evening while covid going on. Lol. Everyone closing early
@burningdinosaurs4 жыл бұрын
Has the foresight of keeping the little plastic thingy on to keep the shock compressed until mounting the lower... backfires when it's on backward, has to compress it by hand anyway lol! Yeah, I know that feeling all too well! I'm also not much of a fan of the bearing packer tools, just don't trust them from what I've seen and still end up messy. Tube of grease never lasts as long as you expect lol! Thanks for the video!

yep...and to add insult to injury, i put the other shock on the driver side and the bracket for the abs wire was crushed. the bolt punctured the shock. oil went everywhere....i was editing the video and noticed i put the wrong hub on the wrong side (left hand and right hand threads) and had to swap them side to side....it was one of those days for sure!

I have been fixing and inflating tires for many years. I knew it was dangerous but never had any scary incidents. Then youtube came along and I have seen so many tire explosions that I am honestly afraid to work on them anymore. But I still do, because the last semi flat I had fixed cost $42. I can fix it for a dollar or two plus labor.

I've never seen bearings packed like that..not saying its wrong..just never seen it..i usually hold the bearing flat..large end facing my palm with grease..and press the cage against the grease until it comes out on top..everyone has their own methods. I'm like you..never think to buy a brg packer..those jobs are few and far between..most jobs are oil bath hubs..tho i just did an international front axle with grease 2 days ago and a 14k dump trailer yesterday packing brgs and brake job all the way around on both

@j.c.smithprojects4 жыл бұрын
i dont add any extra commercial ads to the video. that is all done by you tube. i know it gets irritating but just know that the ad revenue that we get from youtube is used to help people that are struggling. over the years it has done a lot of good. that money has filled a lady's propane tank several times, got her firewood over and over, filled a heat oil tank for another, fixed a young lady's car several times and repaired a roof for an elderly couple, paid mortgage payments, paid for prescriptions, paid utility bills and bought food. i know it gets frustrating but look at what it does. by letting the ads run through, you are helping us to help those who cant.
