Love this, do you have to be transmitting over the voice channels to be sending GPS data? I've been looking for something I could attach to our dogs harness for extra piece of mind. Unless you have plans to make a little beacon that's designed to track via GPS? Perhaps something that can be left at camp, at the car etc. without needing to go for a larger device.

Yes, the GPS location data is sent as a 'tail' on the end of voice transmissions.

Sure does! It has all the same features as the fixed-mount XRS range, including voice playback!

What's the standby current like on the XRS-660? Some other handhelds drain themselves after a month while being switched off so I have to keep taking the battery pack out.

Hi, we have confirmed with our Engineering team that the XRS-660 draws zero current when powered off, however like all Lithium battery cells, the XRS-660 batteries will gradually lose charge while stored.
