XRS Location Services Explained!

When I first got my XRS radio, i thought Location Services were a complete gimmick that nobody would ever see a need. Well, i couldn't have been more wrong. Crossing the Simpson Desertt, it seemed like every 3rd vehicle had an XRS Radio with LS on. EVERY time they transmitted - even if they were just chatting within their party (which is something annoying on UHF10, let me tell you) - your saw their little dot and your little dot on the map getting closer and closer, to the point where youd start having to call af each crest. IT WAS BLOODY BRILLIANT. The only thing *I* would like is to see the XRS app become Apple Car Play and Android Auto compatible so you can have this map feature on your compatible head unit, so you can have your phone plugged in but out of the way.

Love it! Exactly the type of situation XRS Location Services was designed for. We are working on Car Play / Android Auto compatibility.

Location services picks up any XRS radios that are transmitting within transmission range. Ultimately this will depend on terrain and the number of users nearby!

does this feature works with the xrs-330COB? or do I need to get the XRS-330COBG (with gps) ? I cant find any info on the difference between the two

You can get this feature with both! Just for the XRS-330COB you will need to pair to a smart device to get the GPS data.

Hi Tony. If I am out walking will location seevices on my phone find my vehicle via bluetooth or does it only work between vehicles when you are driving.

Hi there, Unfortunately not, this feature will only show location whilst you are driving (this is updated with each outgoing tranmission on the radio). However if you are connected to your XRS and are in Bluetooth range you will be able to see its latest location (from the previous transmission).

Try the Garmin Rino’s you can ping the location of the other radio without them manually transmitting.

Hi, just installed XRS 370. So far so good. I tried to save a map for offline use but the disc icon is not appearing on the map in the app. Is there another setting I may have missed? Thanks Scott

The fact that the XRS660 can send the Location Data Packet attached to a Selcall Acknowledgment is a MAJOR bonus. No more lost radios..!! @@GMEaus

Both XRS apps are now combined into a single app - called the XRS Connect App

Hi Tony, I’ve tried saving the maps but don’t seem to have the SAVE Icon at the top of the screen. Tried a couple of times and can’t seem to cache the maps for the offline use.

Hi Ashely, We would recommend checking if your app is up to date. If it is and the issue is still persisting we would recommend contacting our tech support team on [e-mail] and they will be able to troubleshoot this issue for you.

On a Apple iPhone if you push the power button but don’t slide the phone off and you push the home button that’s supposedly clears the cache does that remove the downloaded maps ?

No, the maps are cached (saved) within the XRS Connect app itself. You must manually delete the cached maps in the app through the ‘offline maps’ menu option.

Hi, for some reason if I go to status I only have option to change status but no option for user name. I have Samsung S21. Any ideas please? Thanks

Hi Alen, This should be available at the top section once you go into the status section. We would recommend contacting the tech support team on 1300463463 and they will be able to assist in trouble shooting this for you!

Is it just me or is the xrs the most appallingly unintuitive app you have ever seen? I'm an IT professional very comfortable with tech but fair dinkum this thing is a dog.
